I was looking to buy a new set of speakers and came across tad's and the specs are great. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with them.

Their speakers look suspiciously like the cabinets from parts express.

Yeah, I saw that too, and the hand selected matching tubes. Without extensive electrical tests it would be extrememely difficult to match them more precisely than just picking them out of the box.

FYI,matching tubes is not just picking them out of the box, the testing & matching of tubes is of great importance, they are tested for transconductance, current draw & microphonics, these are simple tests that only take a few minutes with very basic & common tube testing gear.

The statement that they are matched assures the buyer that when he gets his gear he wont have tubes that are all over the place & impossible to hold a good bias, have microphinic traits & that the output level of each tube is closely matched.

If tubes are too far away from each other there will be performance issues.

Thank you for enlightening us, my only experience with tubes is with amatuer radio linear amplifiers to which matching is not important, but now thinking about it, having the tubes for parallel channels matched would be important.

On the very 1st item you see when you click the link. Is it just me, or is there a knob labled "TUBENESS" ? I've never owned a tube amp or preamp, but have know people who have and have never seen a control for "TUBENESS".
Can any tube-o-philes out there shed some light as to what this control is for?
Hmmm, good eye,i had to magnify the pic to even see it but it does say tubeness, wtf is tubeness,i ve had everything tube including the kitchen sink & ive neverheard of that goofy crap.

I kinda like it though, from now on i'd like to be refered to as " Your Royal Tubeness":D

Tubeosity? Tubular?

Maybe the thing is made of internets (and therefore made of tubes), so there is a tubeness adjuster to make it more internet-like.....ok I'll take my pills... :)

I'm not a tube-o-phile, but I have a guess. I own a Peavey amplifier that has "Tubeness" by running through tube emulation circuitry. It's basically an effects loop. On that amplifier, maybe as you increase tubeness you direct more of the signal through the tubes for that tube-sound.

Honestly, I'd rather have Peavey's TubeTone circuitry than a real tube setup. All the fun, none of the hassle. ;)
