What companies are related? Just curious...

Can anyone give a list of who owns who in the A/V world?

For example Marantz and Denon are related somehow right?

I got curious when I noticed that B&W, Rotel, & Classe were listed on the wall behind the B&W factory manager in a picture in the recent Home Theater magazine article on their loudspeaker factory tour.

Marantz, Denon and McIntosh are all owned by the same parent holding company, but I don't think the relationship goes beyond that. Mordaunt Short is a "sister" company to Marantz, in the same way the B&W & Classe are related - Rotel only shares distribution chain in the US with B&W, though I don't think there is an actual partnership there.

Infinity, JBL, and Harmon Kardon as well as a few more, are all owned by a parent company also - Harmon International.

We also have Onkyo with the Integra brand.

I'm pretty sure Denon & Marantz share a good deal more than most other companies do.

Music Hall which is run by Mike Creek owns Epos, Music Hall, and Creek Audio.

NAD and Dali are same company too.

Paradigm and Anthem are together.

Harman also owns Lexicon as well.

Klipsch also owns Jamo speakers.

Interesting...I have some new found respect for Boston Acoustics then, didn't know they were related to D&M. Also surprised about Jamo speakers and Klipsch, did Klipsch buy them out or were they always the same company???

Cool thread.

I guess the independents are being gobbled up by the big corps. I don't know if this is good or bad.

It's merely business in the 21st century 3db. We're seeing this in just about every single industry, not only A/V. It is becoming harder and harder for small, independent businesses to thrive in this global economic juggernaut.

I fear in the end, this David and Goliath story will have a different outcome, eventually.

Wow. I knew there were relationships between a few companies but did not know to what extent.

You're absolutely correct Halon, it is evident in just about every industry.

Now, we know there are financial connections between companies so what do they share on the R&D and production side of the business?

Im sure they do,it would be an act of business suicide not to share tech to a point.
