Which $1000 range a/v receiver is best

To fit in with a 1080p, 58 inch Pana plasma (700 model), toshiba A35 hd-dvd, Bell HD satellite, WII:Finished basement 1600 sq ft.
Home theatre section 13 x 27 ft (350 sq ft).
I've narrowed down to the Denon 988(same as Denon2808).
Any comments?
Also looking to add speakers and subwoofer. I have polk towers for the front.

You might try the Onkyo TX-SR875 you can get it for around $1,000 and it is a kick butt reciever. I have had both Onkyo and Denon equipment and find both sound good and are reliable.

I bought the V3800 using this coupon and I love it. However asking which receiver is best is crazy because "best" is highly subjective.

Best bang for you're buck though is the above deal...
