Sorry about the double post, I didnt know where to post this to get the answers I am seeking.........

Hi all, another noob here, I have been reading around a bit for a few days and just wanted to say nice furom here!

I am trying to match speakers/sub with my new Yamaha HTR 5990 reciever. I am highly considering getting the InfinityTSS-750's. I am wondering how these two would match up spec and audio wise, good or bad match, etc. It would be for home theater use.

Any comments would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Welcome!

You did your shopping backwards. The question should be what receiver do I need with these speakers. Speakers have the largest impact on sound and should be the bulk of your budget. Speaker selection is incredibly subjective and the only way to choose is to get out and audition as many as possible.

Hi, and thanks for the reply. I see you are a projector man as well as I. I am trying to update my home theater. I am purchasing a new Mitsu HC-1500 and am trying to add a good reciever and speakers. Like I said I really like the Infinity 750's and am hoping they would match up well with the Yamaha HTR 5990. I am extremley new and know little to nothing about matching these type of things up, I have all ways bought HTIB's. Any insight by you, or others, on these would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

It should be a fine pairing, the biggest issue that could arise with speaker/amplifier matching would be if the speakers are difficult to drive, which is unlikely with the speakers you are looking into.

I have always been a big fan of Infinity car and audio, so I thought it would pair up ok with the Yamaha reciever. I am also looking at the Infinity TSS 1200's. The only issue I have is that I want the most bang for the buck speaker wise, to add with this reciever as I do not have lots of $$$ to spend. I can get either speaker set's with the sub for under $400.00.

Here is another dumb newb q. The speakers, 750's, have I think bare speaker wire at the ends, will this match up to the reciever or do I have to buy like new wires or adapters?

Thx!

Nope, bare wire won't present a problem.

I think Infinity is a good choice, many of their 'home theater' speakers perform exceptionally (and even better with modifications). :)

Infinity makes a good speaker so if you like them, you should be fine.
