Holy crap Joe - I'm dumbfounded by the ignorance of such a statement. It's that kind of thinking that will ultimately be our undoing in this country. I think you are an intelligent enough person, don't get me wrong, which is why I'm perplexed when otherwise seemingly bright people take such a leftist liberal attitude when it comes to our nation's military, our defense, and our ability to remain a sovereign nation, and think it so simple to merely reduce military funding, lower our arms, and let our enemy walk right in through the front door. At the moment, the Shrub administration is continuing to hemhorrage money into a pointless war that has precisely nothing to do with defense, maintaining sovereignty, or preventing the enemy from "walking through the gate". This war is the root cause of the current economic problems, and is of no benefit whatsoever to anyone but arms dealers and big oil.

Only two other voters were in the precinct this morning when I voted. The only time I feel young anymore is when I see the voting office volunteers. Don't know if a sparse turnout helps Stratman or not. The Democrat side being a beauty contest will reduce turnout most likely. However, I am glad for the early primary since I'm weary of Iowa and NH settling everything.

I'm not going to help you hijack this thread Joe, but if that's the way you feel then so be it - you're entitled to your opinion. If you want to carelessly throw your confidence into pseudo-liberal, Hollywood politics and sit back and watch the country crumble around you, be my guest. My advice would be to start doing some thinking on your own, and ignore the mass, ignorant consensus that thrives on upheaval of our system every walking step of the way. You know I thought I was going to be livid, but in heaven's honest truth, I got over it. Wait till the backslapping and handshaking stops, wait till these people get the notice in the mail, "Hey we're running short on money, we need a tax hike, we think that 5% will do FOR NOW." And slots? Well the dumbest amongst us will be getting fleeced faster now while making others richer, all under the guise "it's for education." At least I got something good out of this, McCain looks to have won. I still find it hard that people vote without knowing the facts.

McCain is the the most experienced in the bunch, on both parties too.

Well, to be honest, in many ways I share your opinion Clint, but IMO, at the moment, McCain has appeared to be the most sincere candidate we have amongst the forerunners. Every Presidential candidate modifies his game plan when competing for the top slot in our government, it's happened since Thomas Jefferson battled it out with John Adams. I have to look at the big picture and choose accordingly. My biggest beef with McCain has been his alliance with the Amnesty plan. I think he brings a lot to the table otherwise though, that I'm not seeing in the others.

Who do we have left? I don't know anything about Romney, can you fill me in? Rudy's gone, Huckabee? I don't know either. If you have any insight Clint please chime in, I thought Fred Thompson was my man, but he came in with too little too late, he should have declared earlier.

Romney has given me the impression of just another slick politician from day one. He stands before a crowd and gives these big, inspiring speeches, but doesn't take it to the ground level where the issues really are. Rudy has banked his entire campaign on his experience as a mayor, even for NYC, no less - his accomplishments there are quite remarkable, but I don't think it's an indication of his ability to lead a whole country. And someone stick a mirror under Fred's nose for god's sake - was he alive during his run? He's running for President of the USA - you have to show a little more heart than that. I just got the feeling that he wasn't taking it seriously. I didn't vote for Huckabee, because I feared that a Huckabee nomination would have guaranteed a Democratic win in November.

To note - I'm neither Republican nor Democratic. I vote for the best candidate regardless of party affiliations; I am fearful that the Dem's these days are leaning a little too close to socialism, especially good ol' Hillary.

There's no doubt in my mind brother. It's remarkable how soon we all forget here, 7 years after 9/11, as so many want to pack it in and run with our tails between our legs. Our forefathers are surely turning in their graves.
