I'm trying to hook up my dvd player through component cables to my Denon 3806 and can't get any picture. I have went into the setup menu on the Denon and turned on the component setting for DVD to RCA1 where I have it hooked up to, but still nothing. Is there another setting I need to change?

Did you also plug the component cable monitor out to the TV (from the 3806)?

The inputs are probably assignable. Be sure you told the receiver what you did in the setup program.

I do have the input assigned correctly to RCA1 to match where the cables are connected.

Is there a difference between using a HDMI-to-DVI cable versus using an HDMI/DVI adapter???

Not sure I understood that actually. I have an older HDTV that only has DVI in and I want to use HDMI hookups for 3 HD devices so I recently purchased a 4-1 HDMI switch from Monoprice.com. To plug the switch into the HDTV I purchased a 6ft HDMI to DVI cable. I considered just getting a HDMI to DVI adapter but I figured that the cable would be fine! Should I run into any issues?

Sorry not meaning to highjack this thread!
