Opinions on my system

Ok, so I'm putting together my first HT system other than a HTIB...this is what I'm looking at for a 5.1 (for now), so let me know what you think and also any suggestions...thanks

Fronts: Klipsch RF-82BLA
Center: Klipsch RC-52BLA
Rears: Klipsch S-1 (just until I move this out of my bedroom and into a living room when I move and will probably make a 7.1 using something else for the surround backs)
Sub: Klipsch RW-10DBLA (or should I upgrade to the RW-12D for a 12" sub: mainly using the system for HT)

All of this running off of a Denon 2308CI, but not to sure because it doesn't support the new forms of DD TrueHD or DTS-HD

well first of all the recommended center for the RF-82 is the RC-62. The 52 would be too small for those huge 82's. You want to match the center as close as possible to the front speakers. I am guessing you already own the surrounds right? As far as the subs go IMO the klipsch subs are not that great for their price. You could do better from an ID brand like SVS, HSU, ED, etc. Also Klipsch's are super efficient so you don't need much to power them to high levels. First pick your speakers then your receiver. Is there a reason why you want the 2308? Let me guess, you went to a magnolia at BB right? :p

What price did they quote you for all of this so I can tell what other speakers you can go out and hear. I am not saying that klipsch is bad, it's just that there are a ton of options out there in your price range (assuming it's ~$2000 or more). Need more information so we steer you in the right direction.

HAHA, so you can tell that I have been to Best Buy a few times...OR actually that I work there! :D The reason I'm looking at all this stuff from Best Buy is because I get a pretty sweet little accommodation from them. I'm kinda trapped in these brands because I can buy the higher end stuff at a fraction of the price. The accommodation only lets us get up to the RC-52, but should I drop down to the RF-62's to match? I don't own the surrounds yet, but was planning on getting those for now (based on my budget) and upgrading later when I put together a full 7.1 system.

The main reason I was looking at Denon was for the Audyssey feature, 1080p upconversion, and mp3 adjustments for playback. I'm kind of limited in my brands that I can get (Denon,Yamaha,Pioneer), so I have heard that Denon is the best out of them.

Oh, and the price that I would be looking at for all the speakers I listed above is around $850.

More input would be great! Hope this helps.

Thanks

The Center you have picked will be fine, in a perfect world the other model would be more ideal but I doubt you will not be impressed with what you are putting together, those are a nice dynamic and easy to drive speaker and with your Denon you should be all smiles.
What are you doing for cables, or power conditiong...any plans?

I have a matched center now and several systems with speakers I could not match due to age and the early hobby as a whole didnt allow for tons of options, it is FAR more critical to match atleast the center and surrounds if possible when you do serious multi channel SACD or DVD-A playback, for movies most dont know the difference, even if they say they do.

Do you work for Magnolia? If so you can get accommodations from Def Tech as well. If you can only get the accommodation for Klipsch then by all means go for the system but try to get a different sub. See how much a Supercube II or I will run you with employee discount. I used to work for BB a long time ago and I work for HP now so I know how steep markup can be on some things. If you can get Def Tech accommodation it is something like 70% off which is cheaper than BB's cost price. Also check how much it would be to upgrade the center to the one I mentioned as it can't be more than $100 difference.

Unfortunately the store I currently work at isn't a magnolia store, so I don't get accommodations from them. Any of the higher end receivers I am looking at from Magnolia I can only get on the regular discount. Last time I checked, I didn't see a Def Tech accommodation, but I'll check again. Right now, it's looking like the best system I can put together will be the one I listed above. Do you really think it would be worth looking into the Supercube 10" over the Klipsch Ref-10 or Ref-12? Also, what wiring from Best Buy would you suggest, because of my cost?

Also, since I can get the bigger Ref center, I should be fine with the RC52 and the RF82's right?

Thanks

Well I know the magnolia prices inside and out for employees as my friend works there so this is what I would recommend:

I say scrap the klipsch and go for some DT BP7006 supertowers and the CLR2300 paired with a Pioneer Elite VSX-92. Start out with this first and if I am not mistaken you are looking at a little over $1000 for everything. Then when you get more funds go for some SM450 or the BP2x surrounds. The RF-x2 series is IMO very bright and gets fatiguing very fast. The RF-x3 is a lot better in that aspect but BB doesn't carry that line. Check the employee pricing on the four things I told and you will see what I am talking about. You do have a magnolia store where you live right?

Again, unfortunately not. The closest Magnolia is about 2 hrs away. I will be going back home in a week, and could demo it at a Magnolia there, but I really need to pick my receiver while I am there because I won't be back for a while. Kind of a lot to squeeze in for 2 days in which I will be in a wedding! I'll check it out though.

Only pro is that leaves me short a sub and surrounds and adds more cost too. I guess I need to decide what is the best thing I can get on my college budget. Will I see an extreme upgrade in performance (and I mean extreme)? Also, why are you not a fan of Klipsch?

Thanks!!

It's not that I am not a fan of klipsch, I just find their RF-x2 line very fatiguing. Have you done any long listening with the RF-62 or RF-82? I suggest you do before pulling the trigger.
