New JBL 10' subwoofer question

as per halon451 making fun of my sub i went out and purchased a new jbl 10 inch powered sub

now a few questions

what ido i set it at 0 degrees or 180 degrees. it will be in the front of the room

also do i set the crossover on both my amp and the back of the sub..and if so what is a good starting point to have it set at. i heard 80 is recommended. all my speakers are set to small

thanks for your help guys

If in front means with the rest of your speakers, then yes 0 will be fine. Crossover should be set in the receiver and set the sub to max or "bypass" if it has it. What you set it at in the receiver depends on what speakers you have.

it does not have bypass....why would i set the crossover to max on the back of the sub

You want it set to max because the receiver is already handling the crossover. Setting it to max means you aren't combining the two of them and creating a gap between the sub and your mains.

It would depend on how you have the sub connected. If its connected via coax, to the "sub out" then you would set the xo in the receiver to 80 htz and set the sub's xo to the max, to get it out of the way. You don't want two xos in the circuit.

If, on the other hand, you are connecting the sub to the speaker outs on the receiver, and then connecting the sats to the sub's outs, then you set the sub's xo to 80 htz.

Yeah, score one for the new guy I guess - except I can't remember for the life of me when and where I made fun of his sub.

Be wary guys - I smell a troll. Mods might want to take a look into this. I'm just not buying it anymore.

Make sure you don't have a pop-up blocker or something turned on. Mine opens up in a new window, but it's there. ;)

I know - the messed up thing is to this day I don't even KNOW what sub he had, so how could I even make fun of it? I might have suggested a good sub at some point, but I can't even recall having done that.

Btw, anyone heard JBL's Sub 10 lately? It sucks a bucket full of donkey a$$.

Yeah. He certainly didn't "paint you in the most favorable light" with that comment, did he? :p:p

I caught it too, but not being an instigator, I remained somewhat neutral...like Switzerland. Crossover setting...you're cracking me up. :p
