Which sub is best????????

After much research and thought I think I have come to terms with the fact that I can't swing a HSU or SVS sub right now. I have a large room aprox 4500sq ft. I am looking at the velodyne Dls-5000r and the Outlaw LFM-1 EX. I can get each for around 600 shipped. Both seem to be great subs but the Outlaw claims to go a bit lower. Anyone have any experience with either of these???? Need bass, please answer soon. RTi8s just aren't get the job done!!

Thanks

E
Have a look at this LFM-1 for sale here for $375.

It's the same as the Hsu STF-3 which has been discontinued. I have an STF-3 and I'm quite impressed by it. For $375 used, it's a steal without being a budget breaker.

Alright I cleaned this mess up, lets keep it on topic please.
I don't know about you, but my "INSTANT BAN" button hasn't gotten much use lately.
Might be a good time to see if it still works.

Let's play nice guys!

You should take out all the bad stuff from the other guys but leave my funny stuff. I mean, it's the only thing I contribute to the forum.

The parametric eq is used to attenuate certain frequencies to compensate for the interaction of the room with the sub. To use it properly, you will need to have an SPL meter to see exactly what your frequency response is in the room. I hope you ordered that with the Plus/2.

Odds are very good that you will want to use the para/eq with that sub given the output that it is capable of. It will help to get rid of boominess from loud peaks at certain frequencies. The instruction manual of the Plus/2 will contain a full and easy to read description of exactly how to use the eq properly with the use of the SPL meter.

The para eq is only offered on the subs with the premium finish which they do not sell any more. But If I have never had a para eq, I am sure I will not miss it. I hope!

So does the PEQ on the SB12 for example work like this? Let's say I have a 2ch system but my preamp has no sub out. Do you just hook up the speakers to the high level inputs of the sub and back out to the amp through the outputs and tweak the crossover accordingly within the sub?

This is true

Correct my friends, I HAVE not purchased yet. Thanks to the feedback I have recieved here, I decided to wait a bit, do a little more research, and invest in a higher quality sub. Most likely SVS or HSU. When I do purchase(tax refund), I will def. post pictures and let you guys know what I think!

Chao!

So much for SVS customer service. I emailed them over 24 hours to ask a hookup question with the SB12 and no answer. :(

Who did you e-mail?

Erik answers my questions within minutes, if not just a couple of hours.

Tom & Ron have been extremely busy.

Try emailing Honda, Chevy, Paradigm, GE, blah, blah, blah and see how long it takes to get a response. You could call SVS if you have a phone.
