Which sub is best????????

After much research and thought I think I have come to terms with the fact that I can't swing a HSU or SVS sub right now. I have a large room aprox 4500sq ft. I am looking at the velodyne Dls-5000r and the Outlaw LFM-1 EX. I can get each for around 600 shipped. Both seem to be great subs but the Outlaw claims to go a bit lower. Anyone have any experience with either of these???? Need bass, please answer soon. RTi8s just aren't get the job done!!

Thanks

E

Don't be disappointed again. Relax, and take your time, and save to get the right subwoofer.

At $600, it wouldn't be too much more to swing an SVS or HSU. I agree, with a room that size, I'd save and get a sub that will be able to handle it.

Dammit!!!

Thank you voices of reason!! You are right, I am jumping the gun. Peter recommended the VTF3 MK3 for this big of a room. What SVS sub would react best to a room this large? Thanks again, I want to buy a sub and use it for years to come, not regret the purchase.

Sick Sub

That is one bad *** sub! Big jump from the HSU though. Not sure that would pass the WAF although she does enjoy some good clean vibrating bass :) I am sure it is worth every penny!!

Your going to let WAF get in the way of an outstanding HT experience.

Erik is a great guy over at SVS. He is actually the one that made me decide to go with SVS. I was looking at HSU, Epik, and SVS.

I ended up buying a 20-39Pci sub and its been great so far.... HUGE. I just bought a house today, so its going to work perfectly in the 21X15 foot living room we will have....

I love it

Your right, I do make the final decisions :) I also just built a house, wife just got a new accord. WahWahWah I guess I just need to man up! Is the SVS really in a different class as the HSU. I don't want to knock anyones product as I am sure they are both class acts. I will email erik and see what he has to say.
I do enjoy my RTi8s, they just don't blow me away. I am sure they will sound better when crossed over properly with a good sub behind them. I need some serious tweaking also due to the size of my room. Thanks for the comments. You guys are alright!!!

Just ask her for your ball back. I'm sure if you ask her nice she will let you have them. LMAO :D

I'd say stick to your budget, if need be (or around it). And find something that will be great for HT, but at better bang for the buck (under ~800).
Smaller footprint, that will not get you kicked out of the house due to WAF.

For 650.00 try one of these (136 pound subwoofer is quite beefy, and is CLEARLY built like a tank)
uses a 15" driver compared to most subs in this price range that use a 12"

Or if you feel the need to save up some money, then once again there are better options for the bang for buck, and if you stick with that company I mentioned they have a new sub that by the numbers will dominate that plus/2 sub for a measily 300.00 more

On a side note, HSU is one of the best known for bang for the buck.
You can also check their b-stock, search for a HO on b-stock (you will have to email them)
for 810.00 it is a GREAT sub (WELL WORTH THE MONEY, and one of the best bang for buck subs on the market).

however, as stated, check their b-stock (ask to be put on the list)

As well, when money allows, that sub can be upgraded to produce lower FR with the simple addition of the turbo.

NOT to many subs can claim that easy of an upgrade (when money allows)

While I don't disagree with you about the SVS fanboyism on the forum I will point out these specific linked graphs are basically useless as far as generalization goes because they are measured near field in room. It is very important to understand not only how to interpret the data you are given, but also how its environment effects the final result.

That being said I have personally toured the eD factory and they can make a good sub. If the finish is up your alley then you can't go wrong with them.

How come when it's SVS it's fanboy? But with any other sub company it's a recommendation only?
Fanboy!!!! :D:D:D But in all seriousness I got to play around with my friend's PB-12/2 today and it is one great sub but it's too damn powerful. The EQ on it is very good though as we got it to blend perfectly with the ELS-3 speakers. It got to where you couldn't pinpoint the sub in the room and it just felt like the speakers were putting out all that bass. Although at times it was a bit boomy for certain music.

I have the LMF-1 and although I have a smaller room, I have to say that this sub kicks *** and wakes the neighbors all the time (4 complaints so far :( - I swear they're either going to evict me, or I'll go nuts not being able to turn it up!). The thing that gets me all the time is the bass is TIGHT and there's no boominess, compared to my previous sub (HTIB).

For the price of one SVS (non discounted price of course), seems like u can get 2 LMF1s...and if it is a big room, wouldn't that be a better option?
