I am really depressed, we are in a battle with the Cell Phone tower industry, they want to put a 150foot industrial tower about 3 football fields distance from my house. I understand these towers put out radio frequencies,RF, a form of electromagnetic radiation for up to 2.5 miles. We are in the process to try and stop this but when going up against a multi-billion dollar industry, we are going to lose. I know I will have to move when this takes place but it may be hard selling my house, in the mean while can I expect problems listening to my music, and is there any thing I can do!! Please Help. On top of all this I would be so depressed I could not get by, listening to my favorite music.:(:(

What makes you think this is going to affect your music? There are cell towers everywhere here and my music is just fine.

If you thought you might have to move because of interference, that is easy to answer but if it is because of health reasons, well, that is also not an issue.:D
The towers don't radiate much power, not to worry. :D

This is what the FCC is for

The operators of any transmitters are required by law to not cause interference with other communications devices. If they do, there's something wrong with their equipment or practices, and the FCC is mandated to do something about it. You do have legal recourse.

On the other hand, it is the Federal Government, so don't expect miracles overnight.

Don't even get me started on AT&T and their crappy service! My company, for some totally unknown reason, switched the company phones from Verizon to AT&T it has to be the worst service I have ever experienced! Dropped calls galore. NO signal in the middle of town. Abolutely no signal in any outlying area. How can they even claim that they have more bars in more places?

It sounds as if you believe a ton of nonsense. Electromagnetic radiation is a spectrum. The longer waves are radio waves, the next microwaves, then infra red,(heat), then light, then ultraviolet which can damage skin. Then you get into the ionizing radiation wavelengths X-rays and gamma radiation.

Radio waves are not going to harm you or your family. You don't need to move. People have lived near radio towers for nearly a century now, and there is not a shred of evidence of people being harmed. That end of the electromagnetic spectrum is NO health hazard what so ever.

Cell transmissions are pulsed digital signals and unlikely to interfere with your audio equipment. In the unlikely event it does, there are remedies.

Now I know there are people who love to hype and play on people's fears, but these individuals are not schooled in the scientific disciplines and are just rabble rousers pure and simple. If science education had not dropped to such a lamentable state people would have the tools to evaluate specious claims, and have the tools to be objective.

Bottom line, know bunk when you see it, and believe me you have been fed a line of bunk by someone.

Apparently the US has the absolute worst cell phone coverage of any developed country and what we need is more towers to improve coverage. Yet, everyone has the opinion 'not in my backyard'.

As others have said, there isn't much to worry about in terms of health issues and in terms of interference with other devices that is covered in the same way as every other device. I guesss not too many people actually read the manuals that come with their equipment but every single one of them says 'This device has been certified to FCC class B which means it must not actively cause interference but must accept any interference it encounters' (parphrased from memory but that is the gist of it).

It's not like they are building a nuclear reactor or waste plant next door....

Thanks for the interesting info, but I would be interested,if you were in the market to purchase a home, in the 300K range and above, and you found two perfect homes both having all the amenities you want, only one is next to a this purposed tower, could that slightly affect your decision? We were zoned for a healthy-wholesome residendial area to raise our families. But once re-zoned we could be opened to a strip bar etc.

Maybe I missed this, but did you mention how you are listening to your music? How is this tower effecting your music? Buying all your music on CD is going to give you the best SQ, theoretically. Just wondering why this tower is an issue for music?

Sure it would just as I would not have bought one of the houses a few blocks away from mine that are right next to the train track.

It would not affect it one bit. In the Twin Cities they are hiding the masts in Church towers and providing extra income for the churches. That way lunatics do not know they are there.

Was it a financial decision only, AT&T made them an offer they could not refuse?

Much more than what he is getting :D:D
Exactly! Verizon and Sprint both have coverage that AT&T can't even begin to claim. Of course this depends on the geographic area but I also find Verizon to be far superior down in Airzona as well.

To get back on topic, I concur that there is no health risk with cell towers. I don't see how it could lower your property value unless it's actually in your yard.

Was it a financial decision only, AT&T made them an offer they could not refuse?
That's my guess. I believe they also signed a one year contract. The rumor is that they will be switching back when that is up.

If you are serious about that home, get the neighbors organized and ask the company to hide the tower with simulated tree branches.
I have seen towers before and after this camouflage job and it really hides it, especially if that is not the only tall tree around.
