**Place Holder*** (Pics to come)
Well, My first foray into tackling a complete and New A/V set-up.... was not my own (for budget restriction purposes) I, instead, decided to live out my "Would Be Apartment HT" Fantasy through my sister's recently approved credit card and persistently gentle coercion. I did contribute the speakers as a "Bona fide Gift" seeing as how her birthday is in a week.
On to the Goods. Having access to inventory systems is quite beneficial when it comes to hunting down a Clearance product on its last stretch of retail life, which shows in the Receiver I had found for her. And she did get a hell of a deal on her TV as well.
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V1700 ($269, couldn't pass it up. Even if it's too much for the speakers)
TV: Panasonic TH-42PZ700u 1080p plasma
DVD: Panasonic DMP-BD30K Blu-Ray
Speakers: DefTech PC 600 package. (yes, small. But apartment and budget friendly)
Due to a carefully placed 30 story building 1/2 mile south of her Apartment, her DirecTv signal is at around 80% and therefore, unable to get High-Def service from them. She has about 6 months left on contract, or 18 months, she can't remember. so she has 2 choices. 1. Move and get 100 channels of HD goodness. 2. Wait and settle for 20 something HD channels from Cable.
But she is stoked about her Blu-Ray and Surround sound. It took Years of trying to convince her how great Surround is, and the same for Hi-Def...
... And all it took, was one of her all-time favorite movies in Hi-def beauty to convince her to get Hi-Def. And one seemingly predictable suspense scene from a movie she had seen a dozen times.... that made her jump out of her seat, for her to be sold on Surround Sound.
I spent about 6 hours total on mounting, wire management, AV hook-up, Testing, etc. and another 2 hours cleaning up her thrashed apartment from my constant snacking habits. All by myself. And I must say, it is one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life as a Home Theater sales associate. To have a complete system, from concept to completion, designed and installed by yours truly.
I'm off to enjoy "Lord Of The Rings" until my sister comes home with her digital Camera. Pics to come later tonight.
