I am setting up a antenna for my hd tv, and I am getting about half strength on the signal..... I am using rg-59 cable for about a 100' length with one butt joint......

Will I get any better signal and picture if I upgrade to rg-6.

Hi KW,

RG-59 has a small center conductor, a smaller foam dielectric and single shield.

RG-6 has a larger center conductor, a larger foam dielectric and double or quad shield.

The result is that RG-6 has less signal loss than RG-59 and is less prone to signal ingress and egress.

Can you get rid of the barrel connector, and use one complete run of RG-6?
Try to avoid running near, or parallel to AC lines.
If you have to cross them, do so at 90 degree angles.
Good Luck
Rick

Yep, as Rick said and not, 100ft is a good bit of distance and you will get losses, good amounts.
