H/K AVR 430 or Pioneer VSX-1015 TX-K

It appears that I'm going to have both of these units. I need to decide which one to keep and which one to sell. Right now I own the H/K and am about to buy the Pioneer from Speakerman39 from the Classifieds Section here at AH. My thought right now is to sell my H/K to my neighbor so that I can be of some help in the set up and use Speakerman39's Pioneer for myself. The alternative is to keep the H/K and pass the Pioneer along to my neighbor.

I have the spec's of both units and am about to start psychoanalyzing them. That's going to take a little time for me as I'm still new enough to all this. The H/K is my first rec' and I've had it for 3 years or so. Looking for some guidance in my first step into the buy/sell/trade/upgrade arena. TIA :)

BTW: What is that "K" about? A search has some listings with and some without.

The Pioneer VSX-1015 is a feature rich receiver with plenty of power. I think you will have trouble letting it go.:D

Your preference is duly noted. Thanks for the input.

I had a 1017. My one negative comment relates to the lack of HDMI repeating. They put this feature only on the Elite models. I can't think of anything else negative to say about it. Strong, cool running amplifiers for the price point, by the way. Sorry, I have no experience with the HK.

The VSX-1015 does not feature HDMI at all. Just curious, what is the price?

Niether have HDMI. I compared the spec's and it seems like these guys would have you comaring apples to oranges all day long. It's even tougher when you don't know what half of the #'s mean. I could really go either way on this and am just wondering if this is one of those "just pick one and shut up" situations. :D

well i can tell you the TX in the model number means that the receiver has THX. the k means that the receiver is black. i have this receiver and i would not get the H/K receiver. to me the 1015 does excellent job and it is not buggy like some of the h/k receivers are. but i can tell you that not all h/k's are bad. but in your case get the pioneer and you would not be dissapointed.
