I am looking to upgrade my old stereo receiver to a 7.1 receiver. That means I'll be needing a sub. I don't want to spend much, $200 at the most. This being that once I'm able to buy a house I will upgrading to something like a high end Velo. The room is a slightly large bedroom with a concrete floor. I was looking at the Velodyne VX-10. I was wondering if you guys had any other suggestions in the price range. I really like Velodyne subs compared to any other I've heard. However, I've never heard the VX-10.

Yep, I've read through that thread. The info I found was somewhat arbitrary then again I only looked in a few threads.

As for the Dayton, would I need a y splitter for the input?
No

You'll only need a y-splitter if your running two subs from one output on the receiver.

You can use a y-cable as Dayton has both L and R inputs, but I think you can simply plug a single cable into the L jack and all is good.
