Good choice or bad?

I just bought a new sub and after reading many posts in here I am starting to wonder if I made a bad choice. I bought the Klipsch synergy series 10 inch. It was on sale for $250. However, I have seen a lot of subs discussed in here and I was wondering about your opinions.

I have posted other threads and a lot of you have giving me some good advice. I wanted to thank you all. This site is awesome! I have lerned a lot from reading the different posts..........

I personally have that sub. I would rather it not be on that use it while watching movies. It is very boomy, unfocused and gives me a headache after a short period of time. I even tried to watch a movie today with it, couldn't make it 10 mins into the film without shutting it off. Just my personal opinion though. Try it out for yourself and see what you think.

It's ok, live and learn. I'll pawn it off on some unsuspecting victim and move onward and upward.

This is a good performer for the money: http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-10nsd.cfm Honestly, there aren't too many good performers below this price point, unless you go DIY.

I had the 12'' version in my house for two days. I hooked it up, calibrated my system, fired the "bad-boy" up, started laughing, messed around with more calibrations, looked at it and said "cute", boxed it back up, took it to BB and got my money back.

The sub is not the place to skimp. Save your money until you can get one that will handle your room. The Parts Express DIY subs may be a good option for you.

No Idea!

Thank you all for the advice. I have always purchase the typical brands of speakers at circuit city or BB. I guess that comes from lack of experience or know how. So, in that note, I guess that the kilpsch sub and the jbl speakers were a bad idea. I did not want to drop an arm and a leg on the speakers after buying the RX-V1700 receiver. Could you all please recommend a 5.1 set up that will sound better than what I have without killing my budget???
