Has anyone heard it? Is it a high quality product? I have considered it as a replacement option for my CDP+amp because I love the compact size.

No, but I do own one of the discontinued 100 wpc 2 channel receivers. It is very well made - comparable to Yamaha - and performs very nicely. Great tuner section, by the way. I use it to power my upstairs stereo system.

I am going nuts (a short trip for me) trying to decide between 1) keeping what I have because it sounds great even though it is ugly, 2) getting the TEAC, or 3) getting a matched set from either NAD or Cambridge for exactly the same price.
Option 1 is what someone with common sense would do, but I make no such claim.:)

If we all used our common sense there might not be a audio industry at all.

Do you mean something like what is in my signature? Do you have that model number correct Joe?

It's a receiver/CD player. I love mine to death, can't get enough of it. I expect anything from the Reference series from Teac would be a stellar choice.:)

What is your current gear by the way?

That is a similar unit. Yes, I do have the model number right. It is about half the price of either the NAD or Cambridge CD/integrated pair, and offers 50 watts to their 40. If it sounds as good as it looks, it might be the way to go. (They also make a unit with CD instead of DVD for $50 less, but it has half the rated power.)

I wouldn't be sure on that power rating from Teac. It appears to weigh the same, or at least very near too, what mine weighs. Now they might have adopted the Class T amplifier into their micro products, and it may sound great. I have no personal experiance with Class T amplifiers.

What speakers will you be using? My Boston HD10s get plently loud for me (and I am 21 and love loud music) being powered by 25 watts per channel of Class A/B power. It runs very cool and has stunning build quality and SQ. The noise floor is very low on it for one thing.:)

Which NAD do you refer too?

Let me make a few other suggestions, sense we are discussing Teac.:)

The AG-H550, a 5.1 surround sound receiver, is a half size component with all the heft of a full size receiver. It looks like a wonderful piece of equipment and has plenty of power. You can find it on Amazon along with the matching DVD player. They come in Champaign finish, they look very elegant.:)

The speakers will be Mirage Omni 350s (89db.) It is their small size (for floorstanders) and elegant looks that make me want better looking electronics.
If I were to get NAD, it would be the 315BEE and 515BEE or the L54 DVD receiver. If I get Cambridge, it would be the 340A and 340C.
I had considered the TEAC micro CD player and receiver, though I don't need surround.
This would all be easier if I were upgrading from a cheap receiver. The problem is that my Carver CM-1090 is a classic, and it will take something pretty nice not to be a step down.
If I could simply buy a matching Carver CD player, I would. I hate bidding on ebay and possibly losing it after making my mind up, though.

I have decided to go with NAD, and probably the L54 (It is available at a very good sale price from Audiophile Liquidators.) I just need to be sure that this will offer no compromise in SQ compared to the BEE combo.

Perhaps I will add the C715 to my list. It is only 25 watts/ch, but I doubt if I ever use more than 5 (plus NAD is ususually conservative in their power ratings, with plenty of headroom.) I like that it is CD only (no video processing.)

Just a little helpful hint here, the NAD C715 is the exact same as the Teac CR-H227 (which is a newer model to my CR-H220, it has the same amplifier and main components, it just adds the USB port and the iPod stuff).

Hmm. So If somebody has the TEAC for less than tne NAD, its a good deal. What happened to proprietary NAD design?

Edit: Actually, this brings me full-circle. If NAD and TEAC share designs, then NAD offers no advantage in quality, so I might as well get the H300.

Well, that is the only NAD piece of equipment that I know Teac makes, that might be the only Teac related product they have, and they might make pretty much everything else themselves, but that NAD is the exact same thing, only it doesn't look as pretty IMO.:D

Hey Joe (sounds like a song I know, strange)

You should probably stick with something that is 4 ohm stable, which the Teac may not be. Most of NAD's products are, but I don't know about their all in one stuff (that's risky business IMO). The Mirage Omni 350s are 89dB and can go as low as 4 ohms, making them a tricky speaker to power. The Carver would obviously have no trouble with those speakers, but the CR-H and DR-H stuff might have issues with it. The AG-H550 would likely be fine, as would the little integrated amplifiers that you can find around here and there.

It is sounding more and more like I should just stick with what I have (or at least the Carver. A "better" CD player may be possible in theory, but I remain skeptical that it could make a difference in practice.)
As I said, my present combo looks ugly but sounds great.

I have never been overly concerned with the appearance of my system. Sound always comes first.:D If it where me, I would keep what you have (at least I say this in my present state of mind, I was swapping out gear left and right for basically no reason a few months ago).

I do think I should keep the amp. It is a really good amp (I have the analog gauges covered up, though, because they can't be dimmed and are too bright in a darkened listening room.) I could try a new CD player and see if I can detect any difference. I would actually prefer a single tray to my changer (whenever I load multiple discs, my mood changes and I end up opening the tray after one disc anyhow.) It must be the right size for the amp to sit on top of (the CDP can't be on top of the amp because of heat.)
