Microsoft to buy Logitech?

That could be interesting... I like Logitech's mice and keyboards, but I also like Microsofts mice and keyboards. If microsoft does acquire Logitech, I wonder if they would put out a unieversal remote with bluetooth support for the PS3.

I doubt they will want to help support the PS3, but you can be sure there will be new peripherals for the 360. Can you say Wii-60?

I like the idea of new peripherals for the 360. Also, while I like Logitechs products (particularly mice) in many ways, sometimes moreso than microsofts, Microsofts input hardware for computers has almost always been more reliable for me. I'm curious how that would pan out in the long run.

I guess one of the questions would be will they remain a wholy-owned subsidiary or will they be absorbed into MS hardware? I am quite happy with the wireless mouse I am using for my laptop because my USB ports are all on the other side and it is a lot easier to take with me than a wired one. Logitech also has another division that most people don't know about called 3d Connexion - for CAD software. My company is a reseller for them and they are very cool; though I am not sure there would be a market for them for console gaming, there might be one for PC gaming.

It would be... quite a tragic if Logitech were absorbed by Microsoft, IMO.

That stinks, that means that MS will own Slim Devices, and knowing MS's penchant for sticking their dirty little fingers into all things, it won't be long before Squeezeboxes will run MS crap exclusively and be full of all kinds of controls and bugs.

What about service? If they take that over, well...might as well not exist. My cordless mouse has one of those little USB transmitters and it snapped off. I called Logitech and with just a few questions, they sent me a COMPLETE new mouse (since the transmitter is specific to the mouse) at no charge.

Microsoft already uses Logitech as an OEM for at least some of their input devices. I guess buying them was the next step. I wonder if they said "sell out to us, or Mr. Ballmer will throw a chair at you!" :D

I wonder which products Logitech serves as an OEM for. I've always noticed my Microsoft input devices last longer (keyboards in particular, mice) so it would be interesting to know.
