a/v rec'r and hdmi issue

Currently own a kdl32xbr1, str-dg800 rec'r, dvp-nc85h dvd player, all sony.
They work great. Got hd sat red'r too. Always been a sony guy for whatever reason.
I remember hooking it up 1st time and found that w/ hdmi cables that I had to add an audio cable (think I found an optical available) in order to hear sound. Rec'r manual says that may be necessary. I did it, works.

I'm moving to a bigger house, got a real nice room downstairs, getting a 52" xbr lcd. Would like to know that I can just hook up 3 cables (hdmi) to do it all. Thinking I may have to go to STRDA3300ES, STRDA4300ES, or STRGD2100 in order to get the proper hdmi set up. I'll do it, just curious about the right one. Maybe the bravia theater sync deal does it. I know that the hdmi ports are available in other models but think I got a pas'thru or not pass-thru issue.

Wanna use just 3 hdmi's?

Thanks

just make sure the spec's for the receiver say it processes digital audio on the HDMI inputs, not just pass-thru video.

not able to reach any further than the 52XBR, new rec'r, prolly a new dvd.
i'm betting pro gear is great, but i'm not comparing to that.
not comparing at all. Sony says av intelligent switching, think that's it.
just want a new 52xbr and want to get related gear so i can reduce cableing.
but you can bet if my questions were related to onkyo, yamaha, axiom or whatever, the responses would have been 100-fold. it's really ok
i am tho going to get a psp3 for combo blu-ray, might do some games.
so i'll keep the little quintet 3 sytem 5:1, get 2 new rears from klipsch to go 7:1, get new tv, rec'r, player, cables.
i'm an elevator mechanic not a scientist.
lotsa great info on this site and i appreciate access to it but i'm not goin to the moon.
getting older, just want to relax and have fun.

thanks again
