Just got my Onkyo TX-SR805 and wanted to know the best way to transfer the IR signal for remote control from the closet it will be in out to the family room I would like to be able to control it from. Thanks for any tips!

Try any brick and mortar store or www.partsexpress.com (Buffalo brand). I've used a couple in the past for other installs but will be darned if I can recall the brandname. It's shaped like a pyramid.....and is black. Sorry for the brain cramp.

Ive also been down this road. It was alot easier just buying the logitech harmony advance with RF to IR already built in.

One more quick question guys, since my Onkyo receiver has an IR input on the back of it do I still need the IR router or can I just get a ceiling mount IR sensor and use my own wire to extend it to the closet and jack it straight into the receiver?

Still not sure about this, anybody know if the above is possible. Trying to do this step on the cheap...

If you have an IR input, you should be able to just wire an external eye to it. As long as you only need to control that one single piece, it should be fine. If you want to make absolutely sure, check with the receiver manufacturer.
