I'm looking to for a nice bookshelf that are high on soundstage and produces near life sound without coloring. I'm looking to power them from Parasound A21.
If you can suggest any other quality speakers feel free as I have not decided yet which one and would appreciate any suggestions.

I know some of you will say go and audition and see which one you like, saying that is correct but I just do not want to go to every shop and audition any speakers they have. I want to short list speakers on their reputation and then go and audition them.

I live in Mississauga/Toronto area so if you know any good shop around this area let me know as I'm new here.

And yes, forgot to mention that I'm 70% HT and 30% music guy. I hear mostly Indian movie songs and classical.

I would just add B&W in there and go listen to those 4!

I own PSB B25, they are very life like with great soundstage and imaging, but little forward.

Energy Veritas, I auditioned once don't remember them well, so might not have been to my liking.

Paradigm Studio, auditioned in the same room with the same equipment as PSB (both have the same dealer here), and found them more forward than PSB.

From your description, and what you're looking for, Monitor Audio Silver Series RS1 might be your cup of tea. If it is beyond your budget, Saturday Audio has the previous version S1 for $399.00/pr. and the S2 (great speaker) at $449.00/pr.

The Energy is in a totally different price class compared to the other 2 speakers mentioned.

The Energy is not forward in any way, they are actually recessed. I would audition them so you know what they sound like.

I had asked you awhile back which Energy speaker you had auditioned and you couldn't remember? Now all of sudden you're comparing the B25 to the v2.2s:rolleyes:. I agree with Sheep please compare apples to apples. The Veritas where designed to compete with the Paradigm Sig's or the PSB Platimium line up and that's all the OP needs to know:). Let me put it this way the the b25's weight about half as much as the v2.2's and that IMO speaks loudly in regards to the difference between the two.

I listened to the Studios and the Veritas a few times before decided on the Veritas, so you know my answer. I don't think you will find the Veritas and the Studios in the same store in and around your area. For Studios and Signatures, you should do good in Kitchener's Natural Sound. For the Veritas and PSB speakers, try Soundstage Fine Audio, also in Kitchener. In Natural Sound you should be able to demo the Paradigms with Yamaha RX-V receivers and some high end Anthem separates (sounded no difference to me either way). While there you may also want to try out the KEFs. At Soundstage Fine Audio you would love the sound out of any Veritas powered by the Arcam AVR300 or 350 receivers. Those receivers weigh only around 33 to 35 lbs but are 4 ohm capable and have no problem powering the Veritas. They also have other high end separates that you could try the Veritas on.

You may also try Bay Bloor Radio in down town Toronto. They have the Conoisseur series for sure but may not have the Veritas. They do have Def Tech though.

The Connoisseur series is discontinued, replaced with the Reference Connoisseur series and the lower C Series.

Actually that's what I meant to say but thanks for the correction. I did listen to the C-9 at Bay Bloor a few years ago, they must have replaced them with the RC-70 by now.

Wow, Thats a big dollar spread. As much as I like the Image series in PSB, they're a bit out of their league compared to the Veritas or Studio lines. Even PSB's "G" series would have problems competing with the other 2 series.

You need to audition these speakers for yourself bringing with you CDs or DVDs that you are very familiar with. Take notes and reaudition until your comfortable with your choice.

FYI, I have auditioned many brands and models; don't remember all of them, but there have been many.

I auditioned the Veritas at the local dealer, but don't remember their sound. I do remember auditioning some Energy's that were too forward, and like I mentioned don't remember the model, but they were in the same room as the on-walls, where the more economical speakers are kept. Also, I auditioned their on-wall series, and those were really bright, don't even come close to Paradigm Cinema 330 or MA Radius 225 in the same price range; in Energy's defense the "budget" room at the dealer looks like it is intentionally done so speakers there don't shine. The room has no acoustical treatments, just 4 walls and a 10' x 10' size, while the other rooms at the dealer do have acoustical treatments, furniture, etc. Actually at this dealer you can audition almost the complete Energy line, as they are their most popular speaker, they also carry Vienna, Dali, and Sonus.

After you and I had the post exchange regarding the RC-10 I auditioned them, as I had to pick up some accessories at the Energy dealer. They sounded good, very similar to the B25, and you were right not forward at all. At more price than what I paid for the B25's, I still think the B25 is a better deal. Your comment regarding the Veritas weight vs. PSB B25 is right, and they might be in a different league all together.

The other day I remembered which Energy they were. They were Take Series; there was a floorstanding model, and the on-walls.
