Onkyo HT-S990THX Hookup Question

Hi everyone, this is my first post here and I have a question on hooking up my new Onkyo HT-S990THX I just recieved today. I have ordered cables from Blue Jeans cables after reading several good things about them here, although they are not here yet. Can I hook the digital coax of my dvd player up using a plain RCA cable, like you the red, yellow, white plugs used for analog stuff, until the one I ordered arrives or is it better to wait for the cable to arrive from Blue Jeans? Sorry if this seems like a silly question but I'm an Computer Network Administrator that a home theater Guru, although I am getting better at it.

Thanks

It will not be as "shielded" as a dedicated coax but I dont see why it wouldnt work. It sure wont hurt anything so give it a try.

That was my thoughts, I mainly want to just hook it up to make sure it works and because its a new toy. I just thought I would ask someone. I will let you know how it turns out.

Dont lie to me; you want to play some music. Go give it a try and see if it works out.

There is no difference between a standard video cable and coaxial digital (exact same specs), so use the yellow wire from a 3 RCA A/V cable and it will be fine.

I dont know JG, I have a Monster coax that says it is super-duper shielded and will improve the sound of my system.

Ummm. I wonder why it is in my closet and not hooked up to my system...
