Edit: The guy used these as rears? If these are the power towers we heard at your house last year I cannot envision as rear channels. They were 1K each back then if I recall. At 500 a pretty fair value if positioned well.

The speakers at my house where the AV123 Strata Mini's for $2000.

These speakers are normally $899. Good deal IMO for $499.

He might have moved them for the picture, who knows. But they are rear ported. You only need the distance from the wall equal to the diameter of the ports. 2" port = 2" from wall. But yes moving them out further from the wall is better.
