Paradigm vs. Definitive Technologies vs. Polk

... [DefTech Bipolars] require ideal placement...
I agree with that!

The subwoofers in the SuperTowers are not considered by DefTech as separate components or subwoofers. They are considered as just another driver in the 3-way speaker arrangement: Tweeter, Midrange/Upper bass, Subwoofer.

Well, bottom line is, we are all different and think and hear differently, so we all have different experiences with speakers.

I guess that's why there are a million different speakers out there.

Whichever speakers sound the best to us is the winner, and we can all agree to that.:D

Those are on "Very Rare" occasions. LOL Look at your last 10 posts.
I think I've recommended AV123, SVS, Epik, Athena, and Aperion speakers too, but for some very strange reason, everyone thinks I am a Def Tech Fanboy!

I can't imagine why.:D
When I bought my first pair of Def Techs (the BP8Bs), they were the best speakers I had ever heard. Since then, I have searched for something even better, but without success (unless one counts speakers that cost a lot more.) Now that I have Definitives in both my HT and my stereo, I see no need to get anything else.

There are so many excellent speakers out there.
DefTech has such a huge following because of their great sound, positive reviews, and smart marketing.

I think you, GlocksRock, and I (among thousands others) recommend DefTech because we have had a wonderful satisfying experience with DefTech speakers. That is it. No other reasons.

And it's perfectly cool when Mazer recommends Polk or Seth recommends AV123 & SVS because they are also great speakers.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot...and Greg recommends Paradigms...

But, me? A fanboy? Please!:eek::D

I typically don't recommend specific speakers other than subwoofers. There is less subjectivity among subwoofers, as most people want accurate, low, and loud bass. Most folks don't want boomy bass. For speakers, I like to recommend that the person listen to speakers in their budget and decide from that.

Have you read Tom Nousaine's Report on the new Epik Conquest Subwoofer?

Does that subwoofer seem like a winner or what?

I think the only people who like boomy bass are people driving those cars and trucks with their windows rolled down and boom boxes in the trunks.:D

Yeah, I think Rap Music will sound just fine with any speaker Plus a Subwoofer. Just use those Bose Cubes or the new Sony little Cubes with a SVS, HSU, Velodyne, Epik, or Trinity Sub, and everything is just peachy.:D

I would have to say go with the def techs.

They are a wonderful setup straight out of the box and look great to thats why i own a pair of 7000sc,7002,7004,2500,and a reference sub.

I only play music on the 7000sc's hooked to a rx-v3800 with a rotel 1080 amp.And the rest is my theatre setup looking through the eye of a jvc hd1 projector on a 120inch screen or a pioneer plasma.

Nobody has mentioned axiom. Are they in the same ballfield with the others. I've listended to Paradigm 100's and signatures, but the price is way more than Axiom. I've also had Polk in mind. What would ya'll recommend in the $3000 range?

Studio 40's all around. I found the Studio 100's to be really boomy and the 60's a little less but a little boom was still there. Non Paradigm you should also check out the B&W 6xx series more specifically the 683 and 684 towers. Of course there a ton more brands to check out that everyone will tell you about. :)

What an outstanding buy. And I would put these up against those Def Tech any day of the week including Saturday and Sunday.

POLK LSi25 CHERRY $527.30 each

Look at regular retail.

They must have made a ton of those speakers, they are struggling to get rid of them now. Why do you think it is they don't sell very well, even at outlandishly low prices in comparison to the suggested retail?;)

For some reasons I have never seen any DefTech speakers on a huge sale (almost clearance) like that. In fact, I have never seen any sales on DefTechs at my HT stores (Magnolia and Ultimate Electronics). The only reason I got a great deal was because I know someone who works there. Everyone else pays FULL price most of the time. And DefTech still sells very well.

I'm sure the 100% Positive Critic Reviews and smart marketing helps.:D

But you have a good point. Those Polk prices are very sweet and those Polk speakers look very sweet as well.

But I have to nicely disagree.:)
I would still buy the DefTech BP10Bs instead of ANY Polk speakers.

But we are talking about personal preferences only.:D

Exactly. There are so many great speakers out there. Decisions, decisions.

So audition those speakers.

So what happens if you audition all the speakers and concluded they all sounded the same? And all the prices were the same. Then WHAT?

Why do you do that to me?

You have more SuperTowers than I do!

And you have a HD Projector and a 120" screen!

You suck.:D
