I compared the video quality of both the 3910 and the 2900 with component video outputs. I did extensive testing and determined that the 2900 had a slightly better picture with films based DVD's.


Build quality is excellent. The 3910 weighs slightly more though.

No Denon link. You dont need it .

Funny you say that. I use the DenonLink with my 3910 and 3805 receiver. Only for movies though. But it sounds pretty good for the most part.

C'mon someone, buy this already. You will not find a better DVD/SACD/DVD-A player for the price. I forgot what layer changes were having owned this player for a few years!! I use mine almost exclusively for audio now, but the video is quite excellent as well. Aside from the 5900 which was 3x the price, this was the top dog of progressive players at the time.

How is this for playling redbook CD's? I've been looking at a new CD player and have been thinking of the Cambridge Audio Azure 640C. How does this compare?

I personally didn't hear any difference between this guy and the 640C (V1) with 2ch audio and my own discs. I didn't spend a lot of time with the 640 though, it was at a local dealer. Potential benefit however would be SACD and DVD-A.
