Uncharted: Drake's Fortune PS3

Having spent some time with it over the last few days I have to say this is a very good game. The one review I read of it did not give it high marks for certain aspects however I've found that where they gave it lower marks I found to be more realistic. It isn't terribly challenging from a platforming standpoint, but the gun battles are pretty good. The fire from cover system is good and there is enough ammo and cover so that you never get stuck in an impossible situation. There are a good variety of activities and the ability to explore to some extent is cool, even encouraged with the "treasure hunter" side game. The story isn't quite as deep as I expected, but it is still interesting so far.

The main thing about the game is how absolutely stunning the environments are. Throughout most of the game I find myself stopping and just looking around because there was SO much attention to detail; there is so much to look at - this alone almost makes the game worth it. It does seem like the game will be a bit short, as at about 6hrs it says I am at 62% complete, but I will have to see if the upcoming sections take longer or progress at about the same rate. I do think this one will have some replay value.

I played the demo and it did look pretty good, plus it has 7.1 audio.

Yes, the sound is very good too. The demo is level 2 of the game; it gives you a good feel for how it plays but doesn't include some of the more interesting platforming aspects. It really is Prince of Persia meets Tomb Raider.

I recently purchased this game, and it is interesting from the environment and graphics aspect. It sets a new bar, by at least 2 orders of a magnitude, for graphics, on any platform currently available. The sheer number of polygons thrown into the game play characters is stunning - every hair strand on the main character(Drake) appears to be 3D rendered, and he(and other characters) has a smooth rounded, realistic body resembling what you would expect in a CGI cut scene, not in live game play. Most of the plants in the jungles appear to be 3D rendered as opposed to texture tricks, and nearly all of them(at leave and stem level basis) appear to move with the wind -- and the same goes for many of the bricks, stones and other such features which you normally expect to be the standard texture tricks; many cases these appear to have complex rendered cracks and bumps that only appear more amazing as you do close up inspections. I admit, I spend as much time just 'looking' at the game as I do playing it. :)

One nice thing about this game is that it doesn't get tiring or overly repetetive. The scenery changes and they intersperse the various types of play (Jeep, jet ski, puzzles, etc...) IMO, it is well scripted to keep you interested; something I can't say about all games - the story progresses at a good pace and does not seem to have moments of lull or ridiculously difficult "mini-bosses" that bring the game to a near stand still. Naughty Dog really knows how to make a game entertaining.

The environments are not as physically detailed and free roaming as Assassin's Creed, but they are far more advanced in their appearance and have a life all their own as mentioned by Chris.

I also find it really funny that they gave Drake such a real personality...there is a section in the very first area where he has to walk across a dilapidated bridge. I was thinking to myself "THAT looks safe... " and as you walk up to it, Drake says out loud that exact statement LOL. Small things like that go a long way to add to the feel of the game.

I finished it yesterday. Still good game overall, just a bit short at about 8-9hrs. It got abruptly difficult at the end after not presenting too severe of a challenge until then. There is a LOT of stuff to unlock on this one, so I am sure I will play it again.

I have been trying to explore every inch of the environment in order to slow the progress, as I don't want it to end. :)

I don't know of any other game on the PS3 at the moment with graphics that would satisfy me after playing Drake's Fortune. Hurry up GT5 and Tekken 6!

MGS4 is going to rock my world. Knowing Kojima it might just be one of the best games ever in the history of games!

When is that going to be released?
Spring. June I believe. Judging by the fact that 3 was one of the best games I ever played, I'd have to say 4 will be heavy duty as well.

Uncharted stats: I found 50 of 60 treasures so my replay will be to locate the missing 10... Also got 100 head shots before I was half way through :)

I have this game coming in the mail. I'm glad to hear it's good. Sony had a few games this year that looked good to me but got terrible reviews (lair). IS anyone looking forward to Killzone 2? I nerver playd the first one, but the trailer for the new one looks amazing. As does MGS4

I just got a PS3 yesterday. I wanted to get this game but couldn't find it. I bought Ninja Gaiden instead.

And to calm myself down from not getting Uncharted I bought the Devil May Cry 5th anniv. collection and god of war 2 :).

Sigma is a good game too. Much longer than Uncharted but the graphics and physics are not nearly at the same level.
