Advice for Basement 5.1 System

I'm renovating the entire house and already pre-wired 5.1 in the basement. The room is 17 by 11, but low 7 foot ceilings, with the TV on the short wall. I need advice about speakers and the receiver. Here are my priorities:

1) Shallow profile speakers (less than 5" deep), but can be tall (up to 20").
2) Must be wall mountable, preferrably with "aimable" brackets included.
3) Must be stylish - seeking high "WAF" - wife acceptable factor.
4) Seeking a system with a sub included, but could buy separate too.
5) I would consider in-wall, but I prefer on-wall so I can move the system later.
6) Seeking speakers less than $1500 and AMP less than $500.

I've looked at Klipsch SVX systems which goes for $1200-$1300 all-in online. I've also considered POLK 6900 systems for about half that price all-in. My upstairs system is Yamaha RXV1000, Paradigm Minimonitors and On-walls in the family room (i.e. mid range cost).

Please sent specific ideas and approx pricing.

HELP AND THANKS!

Axiom's Look Good...

MazerSteven:

These look great; how would they sound compared to the Klipsch SLX or Boston Accoustics Inwalls? Are these better quality? I don't know Axiom from others... Thanks again.

I really can't answer that question since I have never auditioned any of them.
I know I do not like the sound of Klipsch Reference or Synergy speakers. But that is just my opinion. Don't know if their in-walls sound similar. No experience with Boston's in-wall either.

I brought the Axioms to your attention because of your requirements for

Shallow profile
wall mountable
seeking high "WAF"

I will suggest the Paradigm Cinema Series. They are wall mountable and less than 5" deep. I listened to these a number of times before I actually bought them. They seem to be the best sound/value proposition in on-walls. Combine these with an SVS or HSU subwoofer and an Onkyo or Yamaha receiver and you will have a fine system.
