I'm in the process of building a basement home theater and need 1 or maybe 2 subs. Top of the list was SVS PB12-Plus/2 but it's about $1500 here in Canada. I can get a DLS-5000R for about $500, so I can get 2 with a good chunk of change vs. one SVS. What to do? The sub(s) would be for HT only, no 2 channel. Fronts are Def Tech BP7001SC which have built in subs.

wow, for 500 bucks, that's a great deal!

it can't go as low as the SVS units, but it sure goes as loud if not louder :) for the price.

but if you're considering SVS anyway, I'd recommend the PB13 Ultra, that will save you some money in the end, it's best to get an overkill subwoofer, than upgrade soon and lose money in the process.

i wonder how much the http://www.edesignaudio.com subwoofers are when shipped to canada? shipping should be cheap, only the tax should be significant. the A5-350 is a good deal, especially before the price increase this january 1.

Wow I just checked the site? That is one hell of a good deal! Mike C is the local sub expert but IMO that deal is simply amazing and I wouldn't even consider the ID route to Canada and the Ultra's start @ $1700.00 in these parts with an additional 14% tax.

i'm no sub expert, only sharing info on the subs that I have. :)

14% tax is good enough for the 'cheapo but greato' A5-350 :D
it's currently 600 dollars shipped within the US ... im guessing to canada, add max of 100 bucks + 14% tax to be computed from net price.
