Need help on components for home theatre in basement.
Would like to make it 7.1 surround.
Any suggestions as to what to buy for an amp ,speakers(2 front and sub woofer on floor),rest on wall.
Under $3000.
Something a novice,like myself,could set up.

Thanks for any advice

Bill

First Off.... Welcome to Audioholics...

Maybe you could answer a few questions so we could start to help you better..
What size room are you working with Bill? Room dimensions... L, W, H.
Do you have any prior experience with any specific speakers that you found you like? What are you using for a display? Plasma, LCD, Projection?

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm planning on using 63 Plasma .

The room is 15 wide x 12 long, 9ft high, there is open space behind of 15 feet where I would like the music to be heard, but don't want the speakers in that area.

I've no preference or experience on decent speakers

Cheers

Bill

Curious. Since your listening area is open to the rear and you stated you wanted them wall mounted, where were you thinking of placing the rear surrounds? Are you also desiring the best, bombastic, visceral bass that your budget will accommodate? Is the size/looks of the sub an issue?

Before you choose a receiver, you need to choose speakers first. And from the speakers you've mention they all have a totally different sound quality from one another. Have you went out, and auditioned any speakers yet?

Are you open to purchasing from Internet Direct companies?

You also need to answer AVRat's questions about wall mounting, and the sub?

Definitely open to buying off Internet.

The surrounds mounted on the walls, fronts floor, size and looks of sub not an issue
