I just purchased an optoma hd80 projector. The max diagnol the projector will do is 100in, 16:9. Does anyone know what screen I should be purchasing for this projector? I want a fixed wall mount. I want to utilize all 100in. Thanks

I really need help with this issue. Could someone give me some guidance. The projector will be in the basement. However, there will be some ambient light in the room. I am totally clueless. I don't want to spend alot of money on a projector and then get a bad screen. I am thinkng about purchasing a 100 Inch Diagonal Precision Series Projection Screen - 1.78 to 1. Which option should I choose?

1. Classic Cinema White
2. Brilliant White +$49.88
3. High Contrast Grey +$53.57

Thanks alot, I really appreciate your help.

What do you mean the max it will do is 100"?

Do you mean, "The max I can get when I put the projector at the back of my room, and zoom it all the way out, is 100" - or something else?

I would go with the Carada Criterion in Brilliant White, for sure... no matter which size you actually end up with.

I am new to the projector world so bare with me. I think the max screen size this projector can handle is 100 inches. Therefore, I mean placing the projector the requiste distance from the screen based on the owners manual information in order to maximize picture quality and screen size.

Projector central on this

has a screen size 401" to 146"

Remember, as you increase screen size, you have less light on the screen. And, if you do not have a totally blackout capability, at some point image brightness will suffer.

What size of screen would you suggest purchasing? The size of my wall is large enough to do the 146. Does the picture quality diminish as you increase size up to 146 or just the brightness? I can not achieve complete blackout. The room is downstairs but there is going to be some light in the room. Does the optimal screen choice from the above options change as the brightness of the image changes because of screen size?

I really appreciate your responses. Thanks for responding.

The quality should not be affected but the brightness will. And, with the other light issue, it may be poor. What is the source of the light leakage?
How wide is the wall it will be on? What kind of speakers up front?

You don't want the screen to be so big that it looks like it is in a tunnel with speakers too close to the side walls that is not good either.

Without actually measuring on screen light AFTER proper calibration, hard to say how much light you will have on screen. Also, bulbs age, less output as it gets older.
Did you say how close or far is the seating?

Before you get too far into this, are you sure the HD80 will work in the space you're looking to use it? It has a really steep offset and no lens shift capability plus a narrow zoom window. I'd check the specs and do some careful measurements in your space and make sure it will work for you.
