Will it ever stop? What do you suggest?

I am thinking of upgrading from my CRT to a 1080p LCD or Plasma. While doing some research on the internet, I came across this site:

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4489

Laser TV! May debut anytime next year. Now after happily living with my 36" CRT regular TV for almost 9 years, I plan on investing in a flat panel HD TV only to find myself awestruck that it might become a thing of the past not very long. I am already feeling myself filled with apprehension. What should I do?

- I do not want to invest in a thing today that might take a fall in its value in the very soon.
- I am also not anticipating to buy a laser TV as soon as it debuts; not a wise thing to do
- once the laser tv comes out and takes the hype, I won't be too enthusiastic either about buying a lcd or a plasma then even they become easily affordable

Shall I just wait for few more years until Laser 1080p (or even better HD) becomes the norm of entertainment?

1) No it will never stop.

2) Buy something you will enjoy today.

3) There will always be emerging technologies. How long have they been talking about OLED???

4) Have you heard any major manufactures jumping on laser technology, and rolling out products at REASONABLE prices? Don't forget when Plasma debuted, it was roughly $16,000 for a 42" plasma.

5) Live for today. You will torture yourself if your always looking toward the future with respect for technology.

Just one man's perspective.

Quick! Sell your car, your electronics and don't send your kids to college... lol.

Seriously, if we've learned ANYTHING it's that new technologies take a long time to properly integrate and there is NO reason to think that laser TVs will be anything special - in the short run.

Thanx you guys are right! Frankly, I am considering buying a full hd tv now. I was reading the other post by RCPilot_971 which is what I am considering in Panasonic but in 42". Last time I was in BestBuy to compare the models, I liked Sharp Aquos better than the Samsung. Like RCPilot, I am torn between choosing a Panasonic and a Sharp Aquos. Will let you know very soon what I buy. :)
