I need to replace my old sub JBL TLXPS12 (blowing fuses)
I borrowed my friends Paradigm PS1200 and real happy with the difference.
Are any of the Dayton subs equal or a tad better ?

Yamaha RX-V2600 receiver
Phase technology teatro 6.5 center
Phase technology teatro 7.5 fronts
Phase technology teatro 4.5 backs

75 music/25 HT
room has 8' ceilings, 13x24

This is my first post. I have skimmed this site like a geek for weeks and real interested in your opinions of better sub. Also interested in wmax's opinion on the phase technology teatro series as if they are worth all of the mods that the primus speakers get.

The Dayton 12" kit would likely be a better sub than the PS1200, and being sealed, it should be solid with music. Same with the SVS SB12Plus. Paradigm's subs are pretty average for what you pay and they aren't really that great until you get up into the top 2 from them.

So you believe that the 12" dayton sub 500W is compareable to the paradigm and/or the SVS SB12plus? Do you think that the PB12plus is worth the extra money?

Parts express has a kit avail...maybe i could put new(bigger & better) driver and amp in my JBL sub enclosure ?

I have wood working tools and some skills (made stand for my 280G fish tank) I could copy a design...not sure if want to make my own design as that would require tuning ?

I'm sure you could get help here to convert the Dayton to a vented design that would still perform well, and cost less. No, I would not try to rebuild the JBL - just sell it. I don't know that the Dayton kit is as good as the SB-12, but I can guarantee they are both better than the Paradigm.
