Paradigm Studio 20 v4? Paradigm at all?

Nothin' yet. I haven't pulled the trigger on anything. I'm torn. I'm deciding between:

• B&W N805's (I can only afford the nautilus 805's used...they're my first love in terms of audio, so they tug at the heartstrings still to this day even though they may not be considered "bang for buck")
• Ascend Sierra 1's
• Tyler Acoustics Taylo Ref Monitors (again, used...can't afford them new)
• Swan D2.1SE
• Paradigm Monitor 20v4

So no, no decision yet, no purchase. But I will report back when I do.

Onix Ref 1's

Corey,
Try plugging the ports of the Ref 1's for better placement flexibility. This wont do anything, however, for their 4 ohm impedance.

Yeah, I've got the plugs and used them. I prefer with them out actually. But, just to be clear, I'm not really looking to change speakers to solve any problems...as mentioned, I love the Ref 1's. I just want to try out something new, that's all. The Ref 1's are great.

Ha, I know what you mean. I too go swayed by the ID brands and have been in the realm for the past year or so. But, I'm ready to try another pair out (yet again :D ) and don't want to write off the B&M brands. B&W's new 6 series looks interesting. As for Paradigm, the Studio 20 is about right at the top of what I want to spend. Although, at $950/pr, I was able to talk my dealer down to $800...that makes them very tempting. With that said, I'm also looking at Ascend, Swan, and Tyler Acoustics.
IMO the Paradigm Studio series is one of the best value in speakers.

But lets look at a few of the speakers that have come along in the past year or so to compete with the Studio 20's.

Swan D2.1SE

SVS MTS-01

Here are just 5 speakers that have stepped up in that price range of the Studio 20's. More competition means more choices.

Plus with all the great reviews, return policies, and specials that are out with the ID brands. Makes shopping simple.

Just buy them all!

Of the B&M bookshelf speakers I have listened to the Studio 20v4's were my favorite. Now to get some ID speakers in house...just been lazy.

Thanks for the update,

Hi mazersteven,

Do you know when the SVS MTS-01's are going to ship? The site says late December but you know how that goes sometimes. I'd like to here some feed back on those they look interesting.

Greg, sounds like we have the same issues with DB levels and a few bevies:D

I have the MPS1 as well and drive my Axiom M80's to ear bleeding levels and no loss of SQ and never have blown anything...but thats why i bought them, they draw a bootload of juice but if you can drive em, good luck blowing them up! They are designed to not only sound awesome but play LOUD and HARD!!

I am extremely tempted to just pull the trigger on a set of the new SVS Bookshelves...
With the preorder price, and the returning SVS owner discount, its kinda attractive...
I am also curious as to what the difference in price for 5 of the Bookshelves would run instead of using a CC.

I read someone talking about that, and Either Tom or Ron said they would accommodate anyone interested in doing that...

Mazer, Maybe you could ask that of TomV while your have emails going back and forth.

I had a set of Studio 20s for about 6 months, and I hate everyday that I sold them. Without a doubt a great buy. I now have JBL, and its like comparing a Go cart to a Caddy.

From SVS

Unfortunately we only have the bookshelves in pairs so we couldn’t sell 5 of them. We do have the MTS-01’s boxed individually so we could sell a single tower if someone really wanted.

Thats awesome... Look forward to what you think...

Im really having a hard time trying to decide between these and the Swan's...

I have a feeling that these are going to be getting really high reviews with the tweeter/woofer combo...

That's funny you say that because I had a similar situation, and reaction. I sold my 20v3's to move on to something else. After the sale, I was very regretful, hence my considering a new pair of v4's.
