Pirates:At worlds End:No spoilers

I realize there is one other Pirates thread lurking about, but I thought I'd create another due to spoilers in the other.

My 2 cents....
I a little disappointed. THE BAD: I've read the reviews and I have to admit, I agree with them. I felt there were way too many things/subplots going on and the result was a bit of a jumbled up mess. The movie was all over the place.....

THE GOOD: It's Disneys Pirates of the Caribbean!! Great cast, great cinematography, great audio, over the top effects, and your senses are stimulated from beginning to end. Even though the movie had a lot going on and it was all over the place.....the individual pieces were amazing/hilarious/spectacular....and a lot of fun to watch. Even though this movie was a bit "too busy" for my taste, it's still excellent family entertainment.

3 1/2 stars

Pretty much sums up how I feel too. :) I wasn't particularly impressed but will still buy it on DVD to complete the set and to watch from time to time.

To me it was pretty much just a continuation of 2, which also seemed to be losing some of the novelty when I saw it - it isn't getting any fresher... The new sub-plots add nothing of value and nothing was truly resolved. I didn't bother to see 3 in the theater. Leaving it open for a sequel was also a mistake IMO, because it just made 3 feel like "let's see what we can do to milk this a little longer..." I liked it about as much as 2. I'd give it about 3 1/2 also.

The only thing it has over 2 is Keith Richards.:D
Since I really didn't think POTC 2 was very good at all, I think I will not bother with this one. (I really enjoyed POTC 1, though.)

One or two scenes and only a few lines, and apparently no make up to make him look like that either... It was cool to have him in there, but it was so brief. I more or less just bought this one to complete the set.

The sound on Blu-ray was outstanding.

The sound was outstanding but I personally found it lacking in the bass department, particularly at the start. The final battle was amazing and my entire apartment was shaking, but for the first 30 minutes I felt very underwhelmed by the amount of bass generated by some of the explosions (Singapore scene).

Same here. For whatever reason, I was underwhelmed by the bass in that first sequence.

Are you kidding me?

WOW.....

This movie ranks right up there with any movie in the bass department!!!

Huge dramatic effects aside......I even thought the most mundane sounds were extremely impressive and deep too... IE....like when Sparrows dad dropped the big pirate book on the table, Davey Jones footsteps, etc,etc... If you think the bass lacked, I'd be inclined to wonder if your subwoofer is to blame.

We were talking specifically about the scene in the first 20 minutes in Singapore. There were several massive explosions, and I personally thought the bass track was much weaker than what it should of been. Once you got past the Davey Jones Locker scene I agree that the bass picked up immensely and was outstanding during shipwreck's cove and the final battle.
