Ok guys, set up my new gear including the 805 by Onkyo and Polk RTi10'S And Csi5; ran Audssey twice... and not sure maybe its jut my ears (I had used the HK7300)... BUT I must have did something wrong; because while watching a movie in HD the volume is cranked to -5db and gotta say I was Not impressed. Is there that much difference between the receivers (805 AND 7300)? relative to sound. If I ever cranked the volume that low with the HK I would not have been able to hear anything! Its not the Onkyo sounds bad; its just different. Is this a normal Occurence? Or did I screw s/thing up?? Or maybe the speaker settings are messed up?

Thxs in advance!

You can't compare volume knob settings between receivers, and you may have some set-up issues going on. The onk has PLENTY of power.

I am having the same problem with my Denon 4308 . I used to have (still have to be exact) an NAD T 763 which to my ears sounded quite a bit better. I have been browsing these forums and trying to do as much searching as I can to set up the Denon receiver properly but not to sure what else to do.

Exactly... went back and manually adjusted speaker settings and WOW what a difference... the Audsey mesured the distances right... but man those calibrations were way off!

Pell,

Not sure about your Denon; but going back into the setup on my Onkyo and manually adjusted e/thing... and WOW; what a difference.

If I recall the Onkyos have intelli-volume which you can use to boost the volume for a given source too. I used to have a TX-SR 600 a few years back. The 805 is a beefy receiver.
