I go with the Denon 3808!
1) 10 WPC really doesnt mean anything
2) Faroudja vs Reon? At this point is anyone even using less than 1080 sources. I've read reports that the Onkyo reon didnt perform as well as stand alone dvd player with reon. It actually had affected brightness/contrast with material.
3) Denon has 1080p GUI overlay, onkyo doesnt and has archaic menus
4) Denon lets you relabel inputs (PS3, X-Box 360, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray...), onkyo doesnt.
5) Denon has better remote
6) Onkyo has better DAC, buts its like comparing a mercedes to bmw, they are both good anyway.
7) Denon just looks better.
8) You can get the 3808 for $1299.
If it where me I wouldn't get a receiver with a scaler period, hence I would chose the Onkyo TX-SR805, it is considerably less expensive than the Denon or the TX-SR875.
1) I bet the that the Denon will not stack up in terms of dynamic output capability, the Onkyo has outstanding benchtest results.
2) I say forget about getting a receiver with a scaler period.
3) Fancy stuff that isn't necessary for the system to sound good.
4) I could be mistaken, but I think the Onkyo does allow you to rename inputs. It has been that way in the past with their higher end models.
5) Denon has a cooler looking remote, doesn't make it better. Reviewers like the simplicity of the Onkyo remotes. And doesn't everyone use fancy universal remotes these days anyway.
6) The probably sound one in the same.
7) That is a matter of opinion, I happen to think the Onkyo looks better.
8) Onkyo TX-SR805 is available for under $800 in some places.
