I have to get some new component cables to hook up my HD DVR to receiver and was wondering something about these particular cables from monoprice.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023501&p_id=2182&seq=1&format=2

The pictures don't show how far apart the audio cables are from the video ones in the pictures. On my receiver the component inputs are not right next to the corresponding audio inputs. Does anyone have these particular cables?
From the reviews on the product site it seems like the audio cables are located on opposite sides of the video cables. I used a cable set like this when I still used my PS2 (one end was component video/RCA audio and the other end was the PS2 hookup), and it worked fine with me because the audio inputs are right below the component hookups on the onkyo 805. IF things aren't close, you might be better off getting a set of components and separate set of RCAs.

The cables can be separated. You just peel them apart however much you want.

But you shouldn't be using analog stereo L/R cables to hook your HD DVR up to your receiver anyway. You should have a digital audio connection such as optical Toslink or digital coax.

You are asking about component cables but are describing composite cables. Component cables will be red, blue, green and are all 3 used for video. You then add an optical or digital coax cable for the digital audio.

*EDIT* i looked at the cables you linked to. You don't want to use the Red/White audio. this will be worse quality than a digital cable.

Reason I also want the red/white audio is because sometimes my wife doesn't like to watch tv with the receiver on and just wants audio from the tv speakers.

gotcha. Check and see if your DVR has the ability to do both. There may be a way to wire up the L/R and the digital at the same time.

If this cable is your only option, then yes, you can peel them apart and you will have plenty of length.
