like the name suggests, i need some good speakers.
about 3 years ago, i was an innocent lad (grade 9) and fell into the BOSE cult. being never experienced with speakers, i bought, yes I regrettably bought the Bose acoustimass series 15 II. now, the deal i got (at the time when i was an idiot) was amazing. i got 5 speakers and the and the wires and a sub for 1k. good thing was i got myself a decent Yamaha.
i recently heard some real speakers (PSB and Polk - have no idea what the model numbers are) and i was amazed. Bose is crap. so i sold em for $800. yes yes i know theres another guy who did the same but i am someone else.)

with a budget of 800 (includes SnH, taxes etc etc) i am looking for other good speakers.
i am located in Toronto Canada. currently, i really don't care about rear speakers, but i want some GOOD speakers with Amazing bass.

i am around 65% movies and 35% music
i would prefer floorstanding, but i can go down with bookshelf's if their good.
if it helps my reciever is a Yahama HTR 5640.
also, my basement is approx 15(W) X 17(L) X 9(H).

i dont mind buying online or a store, but guys...i need good/better/amazing/blown away sound that bose could NEVER match.
you guys and post links or whatever.

also, someone offered me this:
1x Velodyne VRP-1200 12"
1x Polk Csi25 Center
2x Sinclair Audio SB2600T Tower Speakers.
and some no name rears.

i have never heard of sinclairs before but they look good.
hes asking 750 for all of it.

if anyone has heard sinclairs or have experienced them, please let me know

also, i have the option of buying JBL e80's and a EC25 center for 500 (no sub).
what do u guys think of that?
god i regret buying that.
My budget once again is 800 (I IN NO WAY CAN GO HIGHER THAN THAT).

lemme know

I am not bias but I am really pleased with Paradigm brand. I really like the studio series and they make really good entry level Monitor series speakers. I am NOT an expert but Paradigm seems to always review well.

Good luck on your search.

Seriously, I have no life.
You have a number of great Canadian speaker companies there. Try to listen to their speakers. Get an SVS sub though:D

Hey Jaz, mtrycrafts is right there are some awesome Canadian speaker manufacturers, PSB being one of the best, this site runs adds for Axiom which are only sold online, though I have not personally auditioned them, the reviews are good.

Since you are in Toronto you have to go to Bay Bloor Radio. They are simply the best, I really enjoy shopping/auditioning there, although they sell Bose but its business. I live in Mississauga and the only reason I go to Toronto is Bay Bloor radio.

If you are in the $800 range check out the PSB alphas B1, they are really good, I really like PSB speakers they are affordable and sound amazing, owned Alphas my self, older ones though.

I am looking into making a 2 or 2.1 system for music my self around the same budget as you. The PSB Image series is really good, but after hearing/seeing the new KEF XQ Bay Bloor has I might just blow my whole budget on the speakers and stare at them :p.

Let me know how it goes.

If you're the patient type F.S has listed them for less in the past;).
I can atest to the be patient with FS. I picked up my Energy C500s from them for $475 a couple of months ago. Just add them to your price watch on the site and you will be good to go.

I have only heard them once at my house, still building my HT space, but they were excellent and will compliment my SVS 20-39PC-Plus Cylinder Subwoofer very nicely :D

(Damn I have to get that HT space done :()

Cheers and good luck
