I have the Onkyo Pro version of the 9.8. How long did it take you to get yours?

Very nice preamp, I was considering getting that myself, but it won't fit where I need to put it. Your other gear is nice to, I would like to hear your setup.

Congrats!

can you describe how your Klipsch 82's sound?

I heard they have a lot of punch on the low end, are they really that bright as people say??

Thanx! To me the Klipsch 82s sound very well. Actually, initially, I was more inclined at not trying them at all and look the other way because of so many fear-instigating reviews I read against them. When I went to audition few speakers, the dealer asked me to try them out. He told me one thing about Klipsch was that "either you like 'em or you hate 'em." This was more a verdict from the consumers standpoint. There was no gray area like you like it alright and can live by it. No, it was like either awesome or awful. I thought in that case chances are that I will end up with a feeling of latter. But trying them in comparison with Paradigm Monitor 7s, DefTechs 7004s, and B&Ws low-end model, I really liked the Ref 82s.

They were not as bright at all as people review them causing a sense of dreadfulness. And the lows are good enough for me and do not demand an immediate need for a sub (although I plan on getting one pretty soon). But again it is subjective and depends on your personal liking.

I liked Klipschs with both music and movies compared to the other three, and I did not look further. I gather a lot of folks do not try Klipsh because of such reviews. But my honest advice is that one should try them (or for that matter, any speaker) and then decide.

I had the chance to listen to the newer tower style Klipsch and thought they sounded very good. Right after, the salesman played some legacy Klipsch speakers, like a Cornwall or Heresy or something (can't remember) and I couldn't get him to turn it off fast enough for the piercing pain in my ears...physical pain. I have a feeling that Klipsch's love it or hate it rep is based more on its legacy products than its modern products.

Please talk more about the 9.8-DTC. With all the hype around its introduction, I haven't read much feedback from owners once they got them home.

I've listened to the Klipsch 82s, and they sounded pretty good to me. I compared them in the same room with the DT BP7001s and the Mirage Towers. The Klipschs sounded very good.

Well, I don't have much to write as a review and also I am not good at it at all. While I cannot comment much on Video aspect since I am still using my standard CRT TV but my first few impressions about the pre-amp were that it was solidly built and simply looked great in my AV shelf. I have my audio/video sources connected to it via coax and component. The audio sounds good but again that can be mostly attributed to the speakers. It is loaded with features as you can read them at the Integra website. For the price it is offered, it is the best buy. I guess for me, this box is future-proof for quite some time to come as long as features and formats are concerned. And I am not expecting a lightning to strike in the audio/video world.

Once I get an HDTV (currently all spending is blocked by WAF), then I guess I will try to also write a small comment on the video.

Thanx!
