3.3 vs EX vs Plus!!!!!

Has any member here had the UNIQUE chance to directly compare the Hsu VTF3.3 to the Outlaw LFM-1 EX as well as the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus?? I am fully aware of all the design differences and etc. BUT how do these subs truly match-up performance wise. Keep in mind that I want to focus on the musicality of the subs. That is, how punchy, tight, and articulate they are as well as the ability to produce distinctness in the transient response. Further, it is obvious that the 3.3 will have the advantage down low due to dual 4" ports vs dual 3" ports on the other two respectively speaking. As such, ht performance is really not much of a concern as long as I can extension into the low to mid 20's. My room is just a tad bit under 2000 ft. ^3 with an opening to a small hallway closet AND my small dining area. Moreover, my seating position is about 9-10' from my tv and my couch is up against the rear wall ( I know it sucks ). So, Hsu owners and Outlaw Owners care to chime in and offer me some objective advice? If so, please do as it will be most appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I do not have experience with either sub. I hear the Mk3.3 from HSU is a very nice unit. I would think that the money would be best spent there. More output is a good thing. You can have too little, and then have to upgrade, but if it is too much you can always turn it down.

Very much agreed. However, I am much more on the MUSIC side of the spectrum and as such could really careless about more oomph down low. I do, however, want to have good ht performance. Therefore, my question is how do these specifically compare performance wise?? Perhaps some other members here have at least had a chance to listen to these subs at one time or another. If so, please feel free to elaborate on your observations.

Wasn't the original LFM-1 designed in part by Dr. HSU? I would guess to say both would be very musical if that is the case. I can't say enough about my 3.2(s).

Yes Matt, Dr. Hsu played a big part in designing the Outlaw subs. In fact, the LFM-1 Plus is basically the same exact thing as the 3.2 with the exception of the down-firing ports. I am convinced that any of these I mentioned is musical BUT just how much better are they is a better question? In terms of over-all output the 3.3 has an advantage down low with the dual 4" ports But other than that I would guess they all are basically the same above say 25 Hz and up. If so, then it becomes a question of which one has the best "deal" so to speak. The 3.3 is on sale for $629 but $100 more for s&h. I am waiting to see if there will be any holiday specials such as free shipping or something. More or less I am sitting on the fence so to speak just trying to get the absolute best deal I can. There are also other offerings that have my attention as well such as the eD A5-350 to the Epik Valor/Knight. I have narrowed things down quite a bit but just can NOT make a "final" decision just yet. Thus, this is why I am doing my homework so as a means to make a well informed decision-one that I can live with and NOT regret. Am sure you understand my situation.

If you can handle it the Dayton Reference High Fidelity Sub kit may suit your needs. It is a sealed enclosure and with the notch filter engaged on the amplifer, has a nearfield -3db response down to 25hz! That is quite good on a sealed unit.

Yeah was considering this BUT epik has a new 15" sealed called the Valor that would do a better job imho. Also, eD is coming out with the A7s-450 which employs an 18" sealed driver and a 1300 watt rms amp. The 18" will be too much for me but the Valor looks promising at this point. As mentioned, I am just kinda on the fence right now to see what holiday deals pop up. In other words, guess I am trying to save some money as always.
