Hmmmm. Sounds like the industry is in a race to see how many speakers they can sell people. I can't imagine how it would differ much from having the same material sent from the main speakers without all the additional digital processing. I think I would pass on this concept. I've already passed on the rear surrounds. 5.1 should do it for about anybody, I would think.
I agree; I am more than happy with 5.1. I would like to go 5.2 though:D

Oh, good point. I definitely implied that. I'm not 100% sure if it's Yamaha only, but I always think of it as a Yamaha offering. Of course, there's nothing stopping any manufacturer from deriving their own "other" channels.

Anyone know of other manufacturers that are doing the same type of thing?

No big deal. However, I'm not sure that 2700 owners are buying Yamaha speakers so I don't know if it is an up sell.
