Yeah, I'm scared of Windows Vista!
They sent me a free Windows Vista upgrade, and I am too scared to install.:D
I love HD player firmwares, though. I upgrade every chance I get.
This is obviously off topic, but I would advise you to run away from Vista as fast as you can. I've had it on my business laptop for about 4 months, and I absolutely hate it. I hate it so much I am going to setup my laptop (Dell D630 with 2GB Ram) for dual boot so I don't have to deal with it anymore unless absolutely necessary for my work.

Unless you like wasting a lot of time and sitting around waiting for your computer, don't get vista. IT SUCKS!!! The number of problems and sluggishness of the computer with Vista far outweigh the silly GUI touches. Otherwise, there is absolutely nothing in Vista that warrants the upgrade (more like downgrade).

I also read in an investors report a few days ago that Microsoft is finally bowing to pressure from their big resellers to let them sell new computers wtih XP instead of Vista.

I have to agree that Incredibles is one of my favorite movies ever and I share Tom's sentiment regarding the simplistic plotline of Cars. Incredibles was so enjoyable on not just a simplistic kids level, but even parents could identify with some of the issue being presented within. I really hope they come out with a sequel? Tuesday night I picked up both Ratatouille and Meet the Robinsons's on Blu-Ray as "presents" for my little girl's b-day. I hope you guys feedback is accurate on those two!
Agree on the Incredibles and Ratatouille (waiting for my girlfriend to get back from london so we can watch on BD together!), but I actually really enjoyed Cars. I thought the inspiration of the dismantling of Route 66 made for a great story, and the soundtrack was AMAZING.

Good, I still have not bought either BDs yet. They are still sitting pretty at my local Wal-Mart. They had 4 copies of each movie.
I didnt get to watch it last night; the CMA awards were on and the wife wanted to watch that live:eek:

I know exactly what you are talking about. My computer has XP, but my wife's is Vista. It sucks 100%. I agree. That's why I gave my copy of Vistas away! I'm tempted to change my wife's laptop to XP, but I'm also scared to do that.:D

I don't know about MicroSoft. I think they support HD DVD because they want both blu-ray & HD DVD to lose. Then they can come out with their own Web HD format or something. Bastards.

So you guys feel pretty comfortable watching these movies at the theaters when they come out? I mean without bringing kids along?:D

Yeah, I go to theaters to point out to my wife just how sorry their speakers are & how sorry their picture quality is compared to mine.:D

My wife just asked me last night how much my BP7000Scs were. She said, "Are they like $100?"
I said, "No, more like $150." :D

Yep. No shame in my game. But I do feel kinda bad sometimes when I get mad at all the little kids that can't shut up during the movie. Sure they're bugging the hell out of me, but it is a kid's movie. Although now that my home theater has become half-way decent, we hardly ever go to the theater anymore.

I have Vista on my HP PC at home and it doesn't bother me. But my PC is simply a tool for surfing the internet and burning CD's. I don't do anything complicated with it.

I just don't have the patience to wait that long. Not part of my vocabulary, which isn't big to begin with.:D

Can you imagine what it would be like if we could just buy it on BD or HD DVD on opening nights? No way I would ever go to a theater again.

Serious!
She would kick my ***!!!
She knows I am one cheap bastard. If I could save $5 on shipping, I'd do it.
She never suspects. No idea what DefTechs are. She thought I bought them from those white vans:D

lol, that is awesome. My girl doesn't care, she loves HT and every time we go into a home theater shop and visit a really nice demo room that is setup like a real home theater with a projector and room treatments and what not, she is all like I REALLY want this. She also loves bass very much, I think if we get married, I will have zero difficulty in getting her to agree to a killer theater room, with lots of big nasty subs!!

Just be careful. Things can change after the I do part. :D
May want to do some of it now, then there is not much to debate, except the room.

Good. Hope it stays that way.

Although I could have sworn my wife liked everything I liked before we got married. Strange. :)

I'm sorta lucky I guess. My wife doesn't really care what I buy, as long as I can still pay the bills at the end of the month. But I have slipped stuff past her, like replacing a receiver or DVD player while she was out. She did catch me once, when I switched from a Yamaha to a Denon receiver. She noticed the blue lights of the Denon, and was like, "What's that?"

is TrueHD really that cool?

Also, my HD-A3 is supposed to be able to output Dolby TrueHD, but I can't really be sure as the display doesn't show you the bitrate of the audio like the PS 3 does. The PS 3 is MUCH more user-friendly than the A3.
Hey mate this is my 2nd post! :) Can you tell any difference between standard Dolby Digital and Dolby TrueHD? Is there any sound effects that you get with TrueHD that you don't without your PS3 in PCM mode?

Thanks for your time mate

"Aussie, Aussie Aussie!"

There is a definite difference between regular Dolby and TrueHD. I never really liked Batman Begins, but after watching the HD-DVD last weekend, I actually liked it a bit more, just because of the difference in sound quality. Uncompressed audio just sounds more "real", and the LFE seems to have more impact.

The correct answer for everything is "It Depends".

Some movies are more prominent than others.

For example, Kung Fu Hustle is one movie I watched on my PS3 + HK247 + NHT that displayed a huge difference. Switching back and forth between DD & PCM, the difference was 100$. If I were blinded-folded, I could tell the difference in sound quality 100% of the time.

But watching the same movie on my Panasonic + Acurus + DefTech showed a lesser difference between DD & PCM.

When I watched "Superman Returns" on my Toshiba HD DVD + Acurus + DefTech, the difference between TrueHD & DD was zero IMO. Same thing with with "300": no difference among TrueHD, DD, & PCM IMO.

So it depends, and some movies are more pronounced than others.

But on the average, this is probably a difference between TrueHD & DD.
