Might have my oppo for sale if I pick up an HD-DVD player.
There are great universal players for upscalling DVDs and SACD/DVD-A. Many high end players don't have the same features like SACD over HDMI and Divx playback.

On Sunday, I ended up going to Best Buy to buy the Toshiba A3 heheheheh, I am just waiting for it to come since I had to order it. November 8, here I come.....

How is that refurb unit holding up for you? I am seriously thinking of calling them (which # did you use?) and doing the same. The prospect of getting so much value for so little money is very enticing! Do you use it much for DVD-A/SACD?

I don't have the 970 anymore. It did have one minor problem - it would freeze every once in a while when I hit "open" on the player itself and only unplugging it would correct it - that happened about once every 15 times or so. They let me trade that 970 in towards the 980 since it came out within my return period.

Ah. So...how's that 980 holding up for ya? Good I assume? I see you also have a Denon 2900 - how do they compare?

I have had zero issues with the 980 and I like a number of the (small) features that it has over the 970. Audio wise, it isn't quite as good as the 2900, but video wise it is a bit better - smoother overal and better color wise (at 720p), but not a night and day difference. I am currently using the A2 for upscaling rather than the 980 since I am out of HDMI ports Going to have to get a new switch or a new TV...
