Wouldn't the Infinity be the one of choice here with 250 watts as opposed to 150 watts for the other two subs? Also there is that spec of 24db/ octave as opposed to 12. I'm not sure what that means so a tutorial would be great.

Wattage means nothing by itself. Powered subs are a system in and of themselves. It is how all of the parts in the system interact and work together, woofer, enclosure, and amplifer. They type of room the sub is going into has a bearing as well.

The crossover slope is not of as much importance anymore with modern a/v receivers. The slope you are referring to, 24db/oct. is how fast the response rolls off from the crossover frequency over one octave.

Example:

80hz to 160hz is one octave as is 40hz to 80hz or 500hz to 1000hz

If you have a low pass 24db/oct crossover at 80hz with a 100db fundamental full range signal it will be playing at 76db at 160hz or -24db down from the fundamental.

With a 12db/oct. crossover at 80 hz it would be 88db at 160hz or -12db below the fundamental.

Perhaps I will do a sticky outlining all subwoofer terms here soon.

An outline would be helpful. I for one need to re-read the above post when I'm not tired in order to get it. I'm slow but I get there. Anyways the question still stands regarding the Infinity sub. Don't worry about hurting my feelings or anything. Look upon it like you're giving me a sales pitch to feed my girlfriend to justify getting into a $600-$800 sub. Is the PS10 known to have a flimsy enclosure or something that would make the other subs preferable? The PS10 has a much higher retail price. The site selling this one is factory authorized and has a full warranty which I thought would make it a bargain.

Upgrade-itis is horrible.

Edit: Just spotted the sticky in the sub forum. Off I go to read that. Thanks again.

Jump all over that Infinity PS10. I have a PS12 in a second room system and it sounds great. I would imagine the PS10 isn't too far behind in sound. The
PS12 is put together pretty well, so I would think the same for the PS10.
Also, the link provided for the Audio Video source is from E-bay.
Use this one. www.theaudiovideosource.com.
I actually got my Beta surrounds from these guys. Good service and
price.

My beef with AV123...

Back ordered, 24/7. We've have great products, and only we, have those great products.

SheepStar
Yes, I know. Their supply issues are fairly common. Still good products though.

The HSU STF-1 would be my pick, but it's a little bit more than $200. And it's in stock :)
