I bought a pair of Model Sixes from cambridge about a month ago, well the first pair... and within the first night I started getting some really annoying static out of the tweeter of one of them, and no matter which cable i used, or which channel I hooked it up to on my kenwood reciever, it still got fuzzy on notes about equal to mid-upper range of a trumpet. So I called tech support and got a surprising "send them back we'll send you new ones" response... now I've unboxed the new ones and listened to them for about 2 hours, and one of them has the same problem as the one in my first pair.
Is it time to ask for a refund and go with something like a pair of similarly priced Athenas or something and forget CSW now that they are manufactured in China, unlike the last pair I had about 2 years ago that were built in the early-90's and sounded amazing?
Or is there something I'm missing that could be causing this anomaly I haven't tried? I switched to 14ga speaker wire try try and remedy it the first time this happened. Could it be my receiver, even though it is consistently happening with the same speaker regardless of channel?
Or do I risk sending these back again, waiting another 3 weeks, and being hopelessly beyond the refund period?
Any help that can be provided would greatly ease my mind, its annoying me that $150 speakers on a hifi system sound worse than the $40 multimedia altecs im trying to replace because of this buzz that happens on notes very predominant in my favorite music genres.
