What is the best receiver thinner than 6"?

Hi,
I'm looking at buying a sound system and after tons of hours of research I finally know the speakers that I want:
Paradigm Cinema™ 110 CT System (I might get the 220 or 330 as fronts, depending on buget) I'm actually going to listen to them in the next couple of days.

Now with regards to a receiver, I have the problem that my Multimedia Center only allows receivers not taller than 6". This gives us some options, not as many as I had hoped for. I didn't want to spend too much money (around 500$), but then I found something really nice (I think) for around 1000$, which if it's really that much better I might be able to invest that much more.

Here is what I came up with:

  • Denon 1907 for 350-500$ depending on seller

  • JVC RX-D702B for around 550$ (Can somebody explain the whole digital versus analog with regards to amps?)

  • Panasonic SA-XR57S for 280$
  • Marantz SR5002 for 750$ (I would have to take off the little feet to make it fit, don't know if that'd be a good idea, though)
  • Emotiva DMR-1 for 999$ (Is this one so much better in quality and sound than the others that it is worth the money?)

I appreciate any comments and advice. Thanks so much for your help.

If you only have 6 inches of space then you really need a reciever that is less than about 4 inches total height with feet. Of course you could just stuff something in there with zero breathing room like my boss thinks is ok to judging by some of the jobs I have to service, But belive me. Its not ok!!

I would either be sure you have a cooling fan or put the receiver on top of the furniture rather than on a shelf that doesn't allow enough air flow. Cramming it into too small a space can be disastrous as Haoleb says.

Actually, it's not really a shelf it's this:
ww.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40105340

So it would have enough air to the sides, back and front, just not the top. I understand that I shouldn't take of the feet, so I guess the Marantz doesn't work.
Does anybody know what kind of ventilation the Emotiva has? I mean, it's designed to fit in a rack, so you would think that it wouldn't be a problem to have something on top of it. What do you think?

Um, totally overkill for those speakers, but just an fyi, if you get better speakers, Arcam makes a receiver that will fit at less than 6" with feet attached. However, likely to blow your budget out of the water. Just an fyi, nothing more, cheers.

I've heard excellent things about the JVC digital receivers and wouldn't hesitate to get one in your case.

You beat me. I was busy posting. Good call. I think I like the specs of the Panasonic receivers better. Duno. I certainly like the look of the SA-XR700.
What do you like better about the specs of the Panasonic vs. the JVC?
