I notice that the mit wd 65733 is about $600 cheaper than the 65833. and I don't see any difference in the guts. Does anyone know why and does anyone think mitsubishi dlp is a good choice for large screen (65 or greater). Price is much better than a plasma equivalent and pic looks good to me in the store. Thanks

I have a plasma, LCD and a 73" Mits DLP. I would easily put the Mits against the plasma or LCD; I love the DLP!

I've had the Mits 65734 for a couple weeks now and absolutely love it.

The 833 will give you a whole lot of proprietary technology over the 733. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it. Have a look at the website (733 link, 833 link) to read about it. Mostly it's things like Dark Detailer, Perfect Color, Perfect Tint. Things along those lines. The 833 also has a fourth HDMI 1.3 input and a Firewire connection. Another difference is the 120hz refresh rate of the 833 over the 60hz on the 733.

I went with the 734 over the 833 and I couldn't be happier. It was most of the additions that the 833 has (Dark Detailer, Perfect Color, etc), but doesn't have 120hz and a firewire connection. For me though, I have nothing that uses a firewire connection, and 120hz didn't justify the $800 price difference (Check amazon for prices, I had a great buying experience getting my TV from them: no problems at all).

All in all: I absolutetly love my 65" Mits DLP. It looks beautiful, was easy to setup and calibrate, and for the price (hell, regardless of price) I don't think it can be beat.

Have you by chance connected a PC to the HDMI input on your tv? I'm considering the Mitsubishi 65" 734, but didn't know if it has overscan issues with HDMI or if you can adjust overscan on those new sets. I have a friend who has a 2006 model 52" Mitsu DLP and he has a bad overscan problem, and there seems to be no fix for it. Since I use a media pc for a lot of things, I really can't have a tv that has an overscan issue.

Also, what is the benefit of having a 120 hz. refresh rate over the refresh rate that the 734 has?

Also, when you are changing inputs, when you press the tv input button, does it scroll through all the inputs, or only the inputs that have something connected to it?

I've got a Mits 52" DLP (52631) and it only displays inputs with something connected.

Correct. It'll only show inputs that have something plugged into them. Except for the Ant inputs, but the menu also has an option to turn the display of those inputs off.

As to connecting a PC: no I have not done this. If I get some free time in the next week I'll try to hook my compy up to it as I have a spare DVI to HDMI cable laying around. However, if I remember correctly from setting up with Avia, my TV had somewhere around 4% overscan. Again, if I find the time I'll throw Avia in a check my number. There is no setting that I found to correct overscan.
