Rash, I'd pick the Pioneer. Just personal preference. I've been happier with my current Pioneer than I was with the Yamaha that I had right before it, although I recognize that the Pioneer is eight years newer and has more features.

The Pioneer also saves you some good coin.

I picked the Yamaha and I have no complaints at all. It is a great receiver. I have seen more than a few problems with Pioneer Elite receivers in the field (blown amps mainly) so I'm wary of their quality control.

No, you almost surely will not be able to tell any difference between those two levels of THD.
