Yep, saw that yesterday. Thanks for the heads up, though! I bet that a few people will want to check those out.

I noticed yesterday as well. The specs on the Ref Monitor look impressive.

Thanks Seth!

I have been waiting for Emotiva to to say when the new stuff (especially the DRS-1) was coming out.

...and I want those subs... :D

I want the sub package, but it would not work well in my apartment.
Why not? They are very small, they are sealed and they are passive. You could put them just about anywhere and place them to flatten frequency response.

Do they actually make those speakers & subs?
Oh, they better. They already took my CC number for my order. Delivery is supposed to be around Christmas.

Oops, I just looked at their website and it says expected release date Jan. '08. I really hope that pre-orders can be released around Christmas.

I thought you already have a great subwoofer system?
Is the Emotiva better than SVS + HSU?

I do have awesome bass capability right now, but the SVS and Hsu were never intended to be used together. I brought the Hsu in to help cure some really bad room modes that caused a huge spike at 40Hz. I've tamed that spike with some bass traps and the dual sub arrangement, but still have some work to do with flattening the frequency response a little more. I was considering a Velodyne SMS-1 until I saw that the Emotiva also includes room correction.

Besides, these two rather large boxes in my 11x14 room take up a lot of valuable real estate in the room. The Emotiva are very much smaller and could help free up some space in the room. They also promise plenty of output for a room of my size. I just have to try it.

The clincher was that my wife said go for it. That's all it takes, really, isn't it? Who here wouldn't want more subwoofers.

So you are consolidating space by replacing the SVS & HSU with the Emotiva Sub + Room Correction.

So, come on. You didn't just walk up to your wife out of the blues and said, "Honey can I buy a new subwoofer?" You buttered her up first, right? Come on, let's be honest here! That's cool, though.

Lots of factors come into play here. The big boxes have to go into the front corners (no choice) and I think that excites the room modes. The small size of the Emotivas should allow for placement other than in the corners.

Considering the cost of the SMS-1, it's not a lot more money to get this system that includes the amp, dual subs and room correction.

I'd like the get the Hsu back into the bedroom system, it's intended purpose. This will also allow me to re-purpose the SVS towards a separate 2 channel system.

It sounds like you're questioning whether I need more subwoofers. Honestly, I don't, but I want to try this one.

I didn't have to try too hard to convince my wife to try this system. She sat through all the demos with me. She saw and heard the system and was perfectly willing to see how it would work in our situation. Ya gotta love a wife who's willing to experiment with subwoofers.

Plus, you can't deny that the DSA-1 is one smokin' hot looking amp!

I'm not going to second guess my recent purchase of an SVS Ultra, but that is one nice sub system that Emotiva put together.

Dave, I hope that you get it in time for the holidays. What a great present!

I won't say I have regrets about my SB-12 plus but I am suffering form a bit of subwoofer envy. A thousand bucks for 2 subs is a phenomenal price.

Wow. To quote Paris Hilton, "That's Hot!"
Good job, Dave. I need a center and then a sub set up to compliment my new Cantons. And a pair of subs is always what I've wanted. But I am often setup challenged, and to have the EQ and room correction built in....plus the price is off the hook!
