Pretty sure I'm going Anthem P5 - now to find a deal

Hello,

I did a lot of research and want to get an Anthem P5 but can't find a whole lot of dealers or more importantly DEALS. I definitely want a warrantied item so I have to get it from a dealer. I'd be willing to go demo as long as I got the warranty. I took too long to decide on what amp I wanted and missed out on a hell of a deal. If anyone knows of a good deal on one please let me know. I don't want a used one on Audiogon with no warranty.

Thanks

I think Anthem is one of those brands that works exclusively through dealer channels. The only way is to find one on the Dealer Locator and haggle.

I just don't think it can handle the king. MC 205 is 200W x 5 . Period. You pay for 200W, you get 200W.

A Bryston will do what that Anthem will, for a fraction of the price.

You have the specs for the Anthem PVA series here.

Here's the specs for the Anthem Statement P5.

P2, P5 POWER OUTPUT
(Per channel, continuous RMS, 20 Hz to 20 kHz, <0.1% THD, one or all channels driven.)

8 Ω

1 Channel - 325 W

All Channels - 325 W

4 Ω

1 Channel - 500 W

All Channels - 500 W

2 Ω

1 Channel - 675 W

All Channels - 675 W

Statement P2 and P5 amplifiers are stable into any impedance down to a short circuit at full output.

Audiogon.... go used.... These things are pretty much bullet proof...

If it works when you get it, it will more then likely work for many many years to come... got my Rotel 1095 used... never had an issue... :)

I agree with this 100%. If this amp will drive any load, as it states, there is nothing someone can do to hurt this thing. It should last a lifetime, without any problems.

Like buying a used car... let someone else take the hit on the retail price....

But, unlike the used car, the amp will smell new.:D
Thats awesome.... You are right too... my Rotel RMB-1095 came out of the box I could barely lift, and when I opened it, it smelled new... too funny...

I finally got the P5 and I'm very happy with it. Someone on the other side of the country offered me a great deal but I ended up whussing out and getting it from a local dealer. I may end up getting a P2 as well, I liked the P5 so much!
